Zastava 7.62x39 M85?

I am dropping the new picatinny mounts off with CanAm tomorrow, so I imagine they will be available from him shortly.
Interesting. I've never looked at any of their 22's.
I've looked at lots of the M70's and own several Zastavas with various brands on them (Charles Daly) and none of them match.

I found I had enough room to load from the top. The Zastava follower and weak spring take a little getting used to, has anyone else found that a bit fussy?
Had mine out today and the whole gun is fussy lol. I think the chamber is short in mine as it was a ##### to close the bolt on brass cased S&B. Shot pretty meh at 100 yards....will be OK for deer <100 as is with S&B. I'll free float the barrel and bed it and see if things improve.... I really don't want to start loading for this round....
The bolt binds like crazy, half the time I couldn't even get it back to the ejector to eject the spent case. I was also shooting a Nork JW25A which was considerably smoother then the M85.....and it looks like it was finished with a chisel.
The highlight of the day was my 700 SPS in .308 that is smooth to operate, has a Timney trigger set at 2 crisp lbs, and just keeps blowing the X out of every target. I don't understand how Remington gets such a bad rep for QC...looks, shoots and feels like a Hyem compared to the M85 lol

Hitzy, I'll try to explain my problem. I place the weaver base 23 on the rear of the receiver where the two holes are. The contour of the base is correct, however, I can only get one of the screws to go in. The other hole is almost a complete hole distance away! Again, sorry if I can't explain this well. I find it easier to talk than to type. LOL So this particular rifle was drilled NOT for the 23 base, but for some other base. My question is does anybody know which base? Someone mentioned to try to "file or dremel" the hole a little bit to make the screw fit. If it was that close, I would do that. But the hole is so far away that I just have to find an other base. Wow, as I re-read this, I see its a mess to follow. Hope it makes some kind of sense to you guys. Any info would be great. Thanks and good shooting, Toni.

You could try measuring the hole spacing on your rifle and the thickness of the #23 base and checking some of the other Weaver bases at the local gun store to see if you can get one that works.
Just on the off chance that someone slipped the wrong base in the right package you did confirm it had a #23 stamped on it? It's a long shot.
I have seen blank Weaver bases that could be drilled at the needed spacing but I don't know if they come in the appropriate thickness/height.

Thanks for the reply 303. I'd love to check out my local gun store, but I live in the sticks and don't have one! LOL That's why I've been asking all you "big city" guys for help. Once I (with your help) find the right base I'd have to order it in. I may try to get a one piece base for a rem 799, I've been told that is the same rifle. Maybe I'm mistaken? It is the same, unless you think my picture of the Leupold base on my rifle is photoshopped?. Brownells shows it online as a Remingtom 799 base when you google M85 scope mount
leupold has a mount that works (bolts on without modifications), not sure if your issue is a mount problem, rifle or user related
They do not list it for the Zastava specifically, but a Remington 799 is the same.

LOL, maybe I can cut some down if it embarrasses you to have a full length picatinny .... the whole point of making it full length is to give more than two possible mounting points.
But aren't there are plenty of choices out there already for the two piece mount?
