How Often Do You Clean Your Black Rifle?

I do a simple wipe down and re-lube every time, full cleaning every 500 rounds, once a year on christmas holidays is "inspection time" where everything gets a detail strip, thorough clean and parts replaced if required.

Corrosive ammo is an immediate cleaning though.

(empty your pm box) it's full.

So far I've cleaned my AR BCG's every 1000 rounds roughly. I don't clean the barrels of my AR's. So basically clean and lube BCG/1000 rounds and only clean the barrel if the accuracy is starting to suffer.

I also do the same to my AR's that have Stainless barrels... I think I should clean them... nahh the accuracy is still good on them so I'll leave it the way it is.

Oh I only shoot American Eagle.

I've never done some kind of special break in ritual as i think it's more superstition than scientific but thats just my opinion. As for cleaning, i was always taught to clean after ever time you take it out and a touch of OCD won't allow me to do otherwise. Most guys i talk to clean when it doesn't function as normal or once a year, whichever comes first.

At end of each season for storage.

Or if i feel the bolt is slowing down.

Other than that i wipe down. Inspect bore and run patch through. Lube up bolt.

None of you find any pitting issues from lack of cleaning the bore? I only ask because my buddy was saying the bore will pit if you let it sit dirty.

either when I:

- get poured on during a match or
- finish the shooting season

Just lube it up. guns are - AR in DGI or even Piston, and G17.

At first I would take my Tavor out shoot a couple hundred rounds of Tulammo or Federal Eagle come home take it apart and clean it but after cleaning looking at the white cloths and they were still basically a darker shade of white I didn't clean for a few trips then again when I did clean I barely made the cloths dirty I just stopped putting much effort into it anymore and I have never had a failure to feed, fire or eject so I guess unless your using corrosive ammo and HAVE to clean just go shoot and clean when you feel like it because from my experience it just doesn't matter as long as the barrel is clear and the gun functions your fine.

Honestly we lube up more than we clean. Cleaning only occurs after a training session during harmattan, or if we've been working outside for a long time and then we come into climate control, we will just lube off the condensation. The rifles are "older" so there are some areas prone to rust, like the FH, the outer barrel and areas where scratching normally occur.

If to give a number then about 500 rounds, but to contextualize that, it's unknown ammo, during harmattan season, and lots of dirt diving.

During monsoon season, then it's after every shoot and every shift will involve at least a win through of some sort of CLP.

If I was home bench resting or just shooting for shlts and giggles it's about every 1500 rounds I'll clean , but I lube up after every.

most of the rifle i own shoot the cheap corrosive ammo so i do a cleaning every time i shoot them , and the other one once in a while when they look dirty , for a few of them with the time it dont take me long
