Remington pump gun rebarrel to 9.3X62.

Ted, this is a very interesting thread and I'm watching with keen interest.
I wonder how a semi-auto like a 742 Rem would work in 9.3 or perhaps a reworked Browning BAR that started life as an '06 ?
If I remember correctly Merkel made an autoloader in 9.3, but dollar-wise out of reach for a senior on OAP ( me ).

Got a 760 30-06, was looking for a 7600 in 35Whelan, but talked myself into a model 700 .35 Whelan that showed up at Shooter's Den. Doubt if a big game animal would know the difference between a 35 Whelan loaded with 250Gr. bullets and a 9.3, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

The shooter knows the difference. That makes all the difference in the world!

Actually, I very much doubt most big game would know the diff between a 35Whelen and a 30/06 with proper bullets but the 35 is much cool over the '06.

35Whelen ..... that's spelled W-H-E-L-E-N! :)

how can you compare the 35 whelen with the .366 Wagner?

No one has a Rem pump with a ruined barrel? There must be dozens of them that have been toasted one way or another.

This project was supposed to be past the experimental stage by now. ;)

Both the 8X57 and the 9.3X62 came to light in 1905, while the 7X57 is 15 years their senior. Both of the X57s were designed as military cartridges, but all saw military service, if not officially. Of the 3, I would say the 8X57 is the least popular and the least suitable for sport hunting due to a lack of quality game bullets, at least in the context of North America. I'd say that while the 7X57 is the best known, all 3 are equally FUDDish.

Hmmm, a 9.3X62 760, with a 20 round magazine, on a buffalo cull is intriguing.

A .323 200gr Nosler Partition... Or of you need some extra range go with the AccuBond.

There are many quality bullet choices for 8x57. You just have to get used to using heavier 196-220 grain bullets. :)

Okay, Boys and Girls, back to the top!

There must be a Rem pump with a barrel that is damaged, bent, rusted, or victim of neglect somewhere. There has to have been a few fired with ice, snow, mud, wasps nest, or whatever in the barrel.

$200 and you get your name engraved as part of the project! ;) Already have a barrel with an excellent bore just waiting to be fitted.
