Hardest Animal You have Ever Hunted!

I bagged a racoon that was coming in the open bedroom window. Hit him a little late with a .22 air rifle. He fell INTO the room instead of out... ya know how those things dance when they're head shot? Had to replace the carpet and paint the walls!

I was very lucky with a mouse once... he was scampering across the livingroom floor, so I shot him with a .177 air rifle. After I took the shot, I looked up... If I had missed, the pellet would have bounced off the hardwood and right into my big screen!! Ha... C.

Only if you are married and are caught by your wife. "The Warden with the Big Stick!" lmao

In the interest of keeping this on topic.... I find wolves to be pretty tough, out of the hunts I've experienced. I'm sure there are tougher, I just haven't tried yet.

I always like to see elk pics, PureShot. Any trophy pics you could share with us? Sounds like youve bagged a few.

Sure I have pictures, but I do not post pictures of myself on the internet, sorry!

Was wondering what fellow hunters thoughts on which is the hardest animal you have ever hunted, with rifle or bow? Can include any animals anywhere in the world.

Personally I have only hunted in Canada and the USA and for me it has to be Herd Bull Elk with a bow.

What say you?

Hard...physically? The Cape Buffalo. Hard as a damned rock.

Hardest to get? Probably a really good whitetail buck,

Blue Wildebeest in SA, 3 shots with a 375 and 3 with a 300wm, shot him twice with the 375 in the morning and chased him the rest of the day

As I mentioned earlier, I have never been to Africa but I have always wanted to hunt Cape Buffalo. A friend of mine is going to hunt a bull elephant this year, that will be neat!

I was wondering if you could tell me, how much does it cost to go on a Cape Buffalo hunt these days? Thanks.

Try bow fishing carp without the proper arrow. I shot one with my recurve (target tips), it was half way through it and it just swam away like nothing happened. Now I got the proper "harpoon" arrow and it makes life a whole lot easier.

The hardest trophy animal thus far in my experience is a dandy WT buck... the hardest specific animal was (emphasis on "was") a really fine black bear boar, that I patterned across a very wide range over a period of four years, before I arrowed him. The physically hardest has been a large Canada bull taken at the end of a two portage trip... didn't think that one through or I would have shot the smaller one.

"Hardest" for me was the wife and I shooting 3 mulies one morning in the steep terrain above pemberton valley.
+25 by noon... It was a schitshow but we got er done before the blowflies ruined everything LOL
Solo big horn hunting is hard on me but a compulsive disorder I can live with till I bag that perfect (to me) ram ;)

Rats in a chicken coup at night.

Pitch black. Hear 'em scurrying everywhere. Click the lights on and start shooting like crazy, but don't miss and hit any of the dozens of chickens or rabbits.

I have been in Africa (North and East).
Hardest was a cricket that got into my room one night and I didn't sleep a wink.
Never caught him but sprayed a lot of pesticide.

Has anyone in this thread claimed a Pterodactyl?

That's all we need, a bunch of hungover Sasquatch . Besides, the fame to be gained by hauling in the hairy hominid would be harder to turn into a commercial sucess if allegations of baiting, alcohol abuse and impropriety are even hinted at. That's why it's better to chase the prairie saskquatch; all those things are considered normal.
