22 LR gouging

My CT has boxes of 555's for $40. Last year they were $26.

I don't think the cost of production has risen that much over the past year; has it?

I left them sitting on the shelf.

Just saw 50-packs of Blazer at my local CT (Oakville); first they have had of any .22 for more than a year.

They want $4.79 for a pack; Al Flaherty's has it for $2.99.

I guess having it back in stock (they probably had 20 boxes or so) is good, but the price? Not so much.

had and gone, lol

Still lots of minimags for $8.99 per 100 (36g hollowpoint)

Im not to pickey about what the cost was a year ago. Its the $28 i paid for the federal 555 packs 3-4 months ago and now are $50-$60 now. Every 500+ brick has gone up double.
Canadian tire lloyd had a bunch of thunderbolt bricks for $41. 3 days later all gone.

Price is based on perceived rarity and need.
After not seeing 22lr for months my local shop has lots of choices now, admittedly more expensive than I like, but now there stock.
Now, I don't feel the need to buy whenever I see any 22lr available in case there are none next week.
In addition I already have a reasonable stock pile now and will only buy when I see a good deal.
This will eventually drive the prices down or freeze them.

I am in the exact same boat; I built up my supply at a reasonable cost/rate and now I can wait until a decent offering comes along to add to it. I've let a lot go past, and when others start to do the same, we should hopefully see some benefit.

I went into a store and walked out with 2 Win 555 packs for 32.99...

They want like 26$ for 325 Fed and like 333 online or at other stores. All depends where you shop.

I was looking at the fishing equipment at CT today and I overheard a guy on his cell tell his friend that they had .22lr in stock, he sounded excited...some aguila at 7 or 8 bucks for a little box of 40 rounds, from the conversation, the friend sounded like he was on his way to buy all 20 or so boxes...WHAT A NUT! I kept my mouth shut but boy...that's around 20 cents a round...you don't stock up at prices like that you dodo haha.

I believe Aguila comes in 50's the Federals come in 40's

I believe the supply is easing up but the pricing isn't..

The solution for that is simply NOT buying too soon. Let it sit on the shelf for a while until the businesses and manufacturers take a hit from keeping their .22LR stock for longer than they expected in their forecasts... and you'll see these prices drop like a rock!

For businesses, keeping stock they can't move = daily costs. In essence, every item that sits on the shelf and doesn't sell is costing them $ daily (taking up space + generating no return on investment).

Patience is all this is about, really.

i got from you 2 bricks :)

yup. i bought the last 28 packs of blazers this afternoon. lol
i put 400 rounds of them through my m&p22 afterwards and they ran flawlessly.

So it was you , the guy beside me who bought 2 biiiiiiigggg boxes , yesterday from AlFlaherty's

Yup lots of mini mags showing up at dealer s.Price is all over the map.Was going to buy from wolverine until they wanted $70 shipping 2k rounds to BC. I ended up paying 11 cents a round local, not great but they did not limit how many I could buy.

I too was going to buy from Wolverine. Called for shipping price & buy the time I went back online to order they went up about $2 a box (100) so on 2 cases a 100 bucks. A hellof a jump for stuff that was already in stock. They said it was mispriced at first. (too cheep). Did not order anything from them. I have enough to last till this time next year. Would like to find a good deal on so Eley stuff though :)
