22 LR gouging

Wow that's unreal. I guess if we keep paying these prices its never going to get better.

I posted a link on another forum showing that canadian tire was charging OVER 3x what wolverine was for 22lr just a month or so ago for s&b 22lr.

@flaming trolls: I literally don't give a #### what others think when I say that the above is the definition of gouging. (Tired of the flamers who ignore reality this morning)

With current exchange rate that is cheaper than the pre-hoarding price of $22. Gonna hand it to WalMart for no gouging.

You did triple check it was 555. CT had box for $25, look like great deal till realize they were 222s.
Saw some winchester 555 packs in the merritt walmart for $26.99, no gouging there...

Yep triple Checked, asked the staff behind the counter on the .22 selection and was shown some Remington and the winchester 555 pack. Honestly didn't hold the box but was convinced it's what they said it was.

I picked up a couple of bricks at the local wally for $26.95 of Winchester Dynapoint - 40 grain 1150 FPS - I'll probably go pick more this weekend if they still have stock.

I almost croaked at my local CT when I saw a bulk box of Remington Thunderduds.................... er I mean Thunderbolts going for $49.99. If I wanted to gum up my semiauto's innards badly, I'd just toss it in a mudpuddle for free rather than pay $50+ to do it with Remmy's.

That's why I never understood why people like those bucket o bullets. They are covered with gold powder and the gunpowder burns dirty, which in turn jams up actions.

U have to weigh each one .. lol.. get match wiith the ones spec .. atm..I see plenty...at this point..if u getting gouged...ur jst an idiot .. ! :-D:-D:-*

I'd take every box of 555 they had at $27. Last time Burnaby store had them was back in 2012 for $22 when CDN was ~par. At 1.3x ~$29. My SR22 likes the Win 555.

Going back more tomorrow for my daily limit. ...

I was in Walmart and saw 5 boxes of 555 at 26
Bucks. I just saw this thread and thought I'd give them a call and see. Well no chit. They sold out. I knew I should have bought all 5

our local cdn tire was selling Winchester target bricks 500s for 41.99- so I got 1 brick- on a pure whim, I went to the wal-mart super store and found Winchester 555s for 24.95 /brick- so I got 4 bricks- proves you just have to be PATIENT-

Meanwhile, my local Walmart has actually eliminated the space in the cabinet where 22 is supposed to be stocked. It has been empty for a year (maybe longer), and the lady said they don't expect any, so why have empty space for a non-existent product? This from my visit this afternoon.

Availability of .22 is still very geography-specific. My LGS had some, but took over $40 from me for a 400 rounder of American Eagle red box. I find it offensive.

Strange. My local Walmart has gotten new stock fairly regularly over the last year. Sells out very quickly though, but I've managed to amass enough for my needs.

you need to check OTHER wal-marts unless that's the only game in town- my nearest one has an anti for a manager, she makes damned sure there's either old, oddball, or empty shelves there so I drive a few miles and get my 555s at another wal-mart- and tell her( typically an anti is a female)that she lost that sale due to her bias

check to see if the manager or who's ever doing the buying is an anti- if so there's your trouble.
you might also ask to speak to the store manager and ask why there's no 22 and as to why it's been taken off the shelf; if you get an answer like " it doesn't sell well" or "we can't get it" you KNOW you're dealing with an anti gun biased individual- kick it to head office and use names and dates- make them pay for their bias- and tell them you know for a fact Calgary deerfoot meadows got 6 boxes last week( guess who got 4)

After calling las night and finding out my local Walmart was out. I called the one the town over and they had 10 boxes in "the back". They were 25.47 a box for whincester 555. I called the local gun store (island outfitters) and they were 44 bucks a box. Called Canadian tire and they were 44 bucks a box. It was a no brainer. Hopefully Canadian tire gets some in stock becuase they price match and give you 10% Canadian tire money untop for price matching. Anyways. Looks like we are in for a huge increase across the board. Once they turn up the prices it's not as easy to bring them down again.

I also realized that I'm going to start buying ammo cheap and stacking it deep. Always thought guns went up in value more but I'm realizing the real investment is ammo (except cz 858 lol)
