I think testing has proved, on average, that the 168gr bullet is the most accurate from the 308,..but that may not be the case with your rifle. I think the 168 or 165gr is a good compromise between the 150 and 180gr in the 308 for hunting medium to large size game. The 1:10 twist will stabilize the heavier bullets like 180gr and up,..but if I was going to shoot 180s and heavier from a 308 for hunting, I would go with a round nose bullet unless I was shooting at long distances above 200 yards. If I was shooting at paper I would choose 168/165gr match grade boat tail, if that was what my rifle liked. So with all that being said,..on average,..a good 165gr bullet should be the optimum weight bullet for all purpose use from a 308win,......but you need to try YOUR rifle with different bullet weights and see what it prefers for your intended use.
