Well I know I am going to get all kinds of moaning of "Too pricey" or " I can build one for cheaper" but the hell with it. Lets be clear, the gun shoots way better than I do, and its not designed to be a benchrest gun, this puppy was designed to be carried and then shoot. It does prove that you don't need a thick barrel to be accurate as this one is skinny. Its capable of 1/4MOA group at 200 yds, but unfortunately my skills prevent me from doing it consistently. Reminds me of my golf game. Anyways a friend and I decided to head out and stretch its legs. After piddling around at 470 and then 690 I realized I had no accounted for spin drift, so we made a few adjustments. The circle is 3" in diameter.

470 yds

690 yds. the shots at the far right were taken from our 1200 yd position so that distance was actually 890 yds

The black dots are where we were shooting from. Roughly 900, 1200 and 1400 and its a view from our farthest target

The blue circles were 900 and 1200 yds(even though it says 1200 for both), Then we decided to try 1400. That's all the shots that are not circled. I clearly had reached my limit and the barrel was getting pretty hot in the sun.

One thing to note is that it doesn't like getting dirty. After 30 shots it wants to be cleaned or its accuracy starts to suffer. Gave the gun a clean and decided to try again. My buddy also has Gunwerks 6.5 mm that he had just cleaned and decided it needed to be shot after watching me floundering around at 1400. His shots are the ones in purple. he started high (hit the metal each time)and on the 4th shot he got a bulls eye. That's a 3" white circle he hit from 1400 yds. WTF????? Literally cleaned his gun and pulls that off and I thought I was doing pretty good. LOL. Their motto is 1000 yds right out of the box and its definitely true, or in this case, pulled out of the case, cleaned it and then he hits 1400. That's sick.

One thing that I love is that you range it with that BR2 range finder and dial it in on the turret(its in yardage and MOA) and you are set. The elevation is perfect but then you just have to figure out the wind.

This rascal weighs in under 10 lbs including that Nightforce scope, and has hardly any kick with that muzzle brake. Would I buy it again? I look at it this way. Some guys just want a rifle to hunt with and don't need the accuracy for long shots. Some guys want the accuracy but want to build it them selves . All good in my books. Me, I want a frickin accurate gun(that doesn't weigh 15 lbs) that if I see an elk at 700 yds I can shoot it with confidence. The customer service from both Grouse River and Gunwerks themselves has been awesome. Actually got emails from Gunwerks owner helping me develop hand loads for the 7mm. Im happy.

I'm not one to typically be impressed by 3 shot groups but god damn! 0.177" at 200yds with a hunting rifle! Congrats on both the rifle and the shooting.

Good shooting, I posted about them awhile back, and like your comments, "haters gonna hate". Much like yourself, I agree, for a "turn key" product, it's impressive. Cheers

See and I keep trying to build that one gun for all around long range / plink steel / hunting rifle and always end up in the 15lbs mark. I loved following their TV show and youtube, but always thought the rifles a bit overpriced. But doing that at 10lbs.... has me rethinking for sure.

Might have to liquidate the collection....

LOL that is how I got the cash together for the purchase. They have a pretty good range of calibers too. I've heard rumors that if you are real keen (no BS) they may let you try one (prior to purchase) shooting it a distance. Test drive type thing. Brent is your guy at Grouse.

Haha It's a little far for me to test drive one (Ontario), sure would like to though. Heck even hold one would help.

Have no fear though I cruise the calibers at least once a week. Even better with their new website that actually has "in stock" listing now

This was the LR1000 right? And do I see a drop mag?

Yuppers. LR1000 Detach box if you want it and I did. My buddy had the carbon fiber barrel which is thicker than my fluted one. That was one option I kicked around on but finally decided against it as my budget didn't allow. The carbon fiber transfers heat like now where mine is hot much longer. The Titanium action is available too I think and it shaves another 1/2 lb off. They also have a new bolt that is field strippable and I mean no tools what so ever. Its apart in about 10 secs. So the new ones are even better than mine.

Ya I do look at all those options too, but with the cal choices I am looking at 10lbs seems about right. From what I am used to hauling in the woods 10lbs would feel like a feather. Funny thing is I have a 300winmag budget build, that weights in at 10.8lbs, but I have another 4.3lbs of stuff I would rather on it.... haha

You sound like you have stock in the company GMHVAC!!! We must never meet, as I feel you would cost me money!!

I guess I have done way too much research. Nada on the stock. Good luck in your build. 10.8 lbs with optics? or without?
