SVT 40 Speculation

What do you all speculate for the future of SVT 40s? Think we will ever see another abundance and 200 dollar SVT's?
 
Well look at it this way, I bought one for 450$ about 5 years ago when it didn't look like there was going to be more coming in. Now they are worth less than what I paid. Did I ever think they were going down to 200$, no way. I know someone that paid 800$ several years before that.

Buy one because you want one not because you want to profit on one.

The SVT40 is a fun rifle to shoot. If you want to invest in something buy stocks or gold, vintage instruments, or something else. Guns were meant to be shot in my opinion.
 
SVT eventually will meet the faith of garand and k43. The reason its cheap right now is because of Ukraine and Russia were keeping these rifles in reserves. As with any WW2 rifle price will only go up. Buy the prettiest SVT with nice bore, maintain it and it will outshoot anything in 308 caliber. Its like shooting grenade launcher with mild concussion and slap on the cheek for trying. No wonder they called it Sveta.

Does yours have the German waffenampts laser engraved and gold in colour?
 
I think there is more in the hidden bunkers and warehouses left over from the cold war days. However the sellers know the price has gone up and and the importers will only jump on them if they can make a buck in the fair market of destination. $200 SVTs?? I don't think so.
 
Yes there will be a few more hits of $200 cheap rough SVT and more nice ones at $300 ish, and then, one day there will be no more! Buy them shoot them keep them , fun gun with some history, get parts for them too while you can!
 
Buy them at a price you're willing to pay, and enjoy it.

I lucked out on the $200 deal, and have been kicking myself ever since that I only bought one.

But you know what? I only shoot it a couple times a year. I mostly have it as a part of my WWII battle rifle collection, so how many do I really need? It'll get sold as part of my estate, hopefully decades from now, and with luck, it'll buy something nice for my wife or daughter (or both), but if not... Oh well. I had a piece of history in my hands for a price I could afford.

And I got to use it too.
 
I bought 3 at that 200$ deal and they were not junkers. all 3 were pretty much correct and none had arsenal repaired stocks.
i kept a beautiful 1940 tula with period, unrepaired stock and 6 port brake. shoots like a house on fire and i can hit almost anything i want.

How did you know? It even had a SA stamp under the Waffenampts so it is the ultra rare, German capture Finnish capture SVT.

No it was from P&S Militaria. After taxes and shipping it added up to about 450$ (I always include taxes and shipping in the firearm cost). It is also a very nice 1941 Tula in a AVT-40 stock with a VG+ bore. Overall I am happy with it so that is all that matters. Remember you haven't lost money until you sell it.

Lucky guess about the WAs. I was referring to the first batch of SVTs that came through Jose Reis' shop with modern German laser etched "proof" markings. I lazily called them Waffenampts.
 
I'll have to post pictures. I've posted before, there are clear batches of imports. The first I know were SA marked and sold by International Firearms. Globe had another batch which they couldn't sell and converted to .303BR. The next group I know were through G4 (?) and I bought one from Jose. These have German government proof marks. Until Ukraine flooded the market direct to Canada, those were the newest arrivals. They have plum carriers, flaky shellacked stocks and mismatched parts.
