Kel-Tec SU-16 discussion

Still dont want a gun that self destructs after two cases of ammo. With that being said it looks relly good.

Nice! Post a parts list if you get a chance. and if you dont mind sharing, perhaps a rough estimate on the upgrade costs.

To be honest, I purchased the rifle used off of the EE (came with the Rail custom installed by previous owner.)

Other parts include and MFT stubby foregrip, Magpul UBR Stock, Magpul XTM rail covers, Magpul BUIS, Magpul 30 round Gen 2 PMag (with Magpul), Inforce 500 Lumen light, EOTech XPS 2-0, EOTech G23 FTS 3x Magnifyer, I cannot remember what the flash hider is though..

It actually looks really nice! Well done.

Thanks!

very cool looking

Thank you

That looks fantastic.

Much appreciated!

They look nice, I just wish they made them out of aluminum because I can't get passed the cheap plastic feel.

Yea... I would have preferred aluminum too.. but to be honest.. the plastic seems durable to me. No worries so far!

Nope still don't want one, A+ for effort though. I'm not really interested in a rifle that may crack in half at any time.

I was unaware that these are known to crack in half! are there any videos of this happening? I'm curious to see how common this is.

Sorry, couldn't see it with all the camo in the background. :p

Ha!

Now im not a fan of the SU16 (way too many screws) but that is one of the nicest ones ive seen. Your gun reflects your pride in ownership.

Thank you for this post! I try to take care of my children as best as possible lol. Originally I was also turned off from the screws, but throw a Houge Grip over the pistol grip and it doesn't look that bad.

Nice gun, love your UBR Stock! ;)

Thanks! when I bought it a few years back it was a pain in the butt to find one!

Very nice looking rifle, but makes me want one less, or more to the point, makes me want that one less than I would want a stock one.

For me, the main point of an SU-16 would be something that folds in half to throw in the trunk and forget about until I needed it to pop a coyote.

I see where you are getting with this post. The main point of the rifle was/ is about portability, but you can still fold it in half in its current configuration.. just not as neatly as before :) Plus.. I'm not much of a hunter anyways.. I like the modern military style firearms so this fits the bill nicely!

I love these rifles but I just can't get past all the screws all over the place.
Very nice pictures btw!

Thank you! I'm by no means the greatest at taking pictures... but I think they turned out quite nicely!

That bracket for the stock is killing it with 5 screw on each side! That is an aftermarket part though right?

Not aftermarket. You can get the SU-16 in 2 different configurations from the factory. One has the pistol grip.. one does not.

Nope, it is a Kel-Tec part. I might have to keep my eye open for a SU-16 in the EE.

ah ha! My thread is working! Finally! lol

Made by Kel-Tec but an accessory? It does not come with the standard rifle correct?

It's part of the pistol grip conversion, not standard but it is factory.

Well done making your rifle the way you want it. But I already owned a su16, and no amount of add ons would make me want another.

Care to share you experiences? Why would you not want another?

My SU16 has worked fine. I have it all stock yet. I have an AR-180B to shoot when I want something looking cool. I like the folding stock on the SU16 to make it compact until needed to shoot.

But still, the pistol grip stock is cool, making it look closer to the AR-15 that we all should be able to take hunting or plinking on the back 40 anyway.

Exactly. We canadians need to take advantage of all of the cool non-restricted firearms we can get our hands on (we don't have many to choose from.)

Nope, didn't work.

:(

Nice job! Looks great!

Thanks!

Looks great! Nice work!

Thanks you!

Looks nice but at the end of the day, it's still a Kel-Tec. :p

Had bad personal experiences with Kel-Tec?

Still dont want a gun that self destructs after two cases of ammo. With that being said it looks relly good.

Do you have personal experiences with the "self destruction" or is it something you've read about?

Thanks! I think it looks pretty amazing.

The rifle looks good and your enthusiasm is great, but nope, I still don't want one. ;)

Dammit! :(

Do you black gun types pay by the rivet ?

Needs more screws.

Wrong crowd. These guys do, though:

haha! Love it!

What fore end?

Honestly I don't know. I purchased it this way with the custom rail preinstalled. It's actually what made me buy the gun. However, these pictures just go to show you that you can make these guns look uber tactical with a bit of work (or a gunsmith lol)

Your rifle and pictures look excellent, thanks for sharing you idea's.

Thank you very much!

That is really sweet! I've been contemplating getting one and this makes me want it more.

Thanks for sharing.

Yes! it's slowly working. Come over to the dark side!

Nobody even bother posting pics, OP wins hands down.

ha! I guess so. No challengers means I win i guess muahaha!

Ok.

It is a nice looking rig, I hope you didn't take offence at what I said. The main thing about any rifle is that "it works for you" - making it your own, customizing it the way you want it, is never a lost effort.

I find I shoot the rifles I "like" better than the ones that make me feel "meh" - it has nothing to do with inherent accuracy or reliability. If I really like a rifle, for whatever reason, I shoot it more and I shoot it better.

Yours looks sweet OP!!!
I had one. I liked it ok. Other than the plastic feel. Shot good. Reliable. The only reason I got rid of it was that a lot of receivers were cracking and kel-tec's warranty only covers original owner and mine was bought off the EE.
