Remington Law Enforcement Division - 870P Walnut IN STOCK

I've already read all the claims you're making on the US websites a long time ago.
Quite frankly, I don't care what others claim or think. I can see and notice a difference, something that can't be achieved by a parts exchange and finish alone.

There is nothing wrong about being happy with what you have. There is however no need to ignore the obvious facts and create misinformation. I'm not making any claims here. I'm simply pointing out these facts. No need to get offended. You don't want to acknowledge all that? Ok. I couldn't care less. We are not talking about the feelings here.

Here is the link to Remington 2014 parts price catalog (Remington 870 parts are on page 67):

Somehow all these "better quality" parts are priced identical with the Express ones including the receivers.

I don't know how Remington comes up with the prices on their receivers. All I can see is that pretty much all receivers have the same price; Express, Police, Wingmaster, Marine Mag,etc. What I do know as a fact is that the work that goes into a Marine Mag receiver and an Express receiver isn't the same, namely the electroless nickel plating vs cheap matte 'bluing'. The EN coating is both more time consuming and costly. So if they're not charging for the extra work and time going into that process, who's to say some of the receivers don't receive extra attention like de-burring?

I guess you'll just have to get a tour of the factory and post a youtube video from your hidden cam. :)

...just to find out that there is no designated, special area in the factory that is only responsible for making LE shotguns. Another Remington, marketing hype repeated constantly on this forum. BTW...Marine receiver is in fact Express, so except for finish there is no difference between them.

Remington Factory Certified Law Enforcement Armorer and official Remington dealer is far more credible source of information about all, little dirty Remington secrets than a dude on the web like myself. Check out Aippi 870 if you really want to know most of the funny Remington stuff. Pricing the whole shotguns differently while creating an impression of different level of attention given to different models when nearly all the parts coming from the factory are priced the same is just one of these funny things.

Nestor is right. However, that doesn't change the fact that people are looking to validate themselves for having bought certain products. There's no question Remington charges a premium for anything with a "POLICE" label attached to it, no differently than AR manufacturers constantly hype themselves as being "MILSPEC".

I'd like to see a test where someone fires both an Express and an 870P to the point of failure and see which one fails first. I'm thinking even odds.

For me, I'll continue to buy Expresses and be 100% satisfied. I hope those feeling the "P" designation is worth the extra are equally satisfied.

Opinions are like as.... as they say, but in fact most of the parts on Wilson shotguns are the very same Express parts that were there at the start of the process. Really there is no need to create impression that the original Express parts are disposed and all they are using is Express receiver with Wilson parts. It's not true. You are simply paying for the labor, finish and name.

Nestor- You are a stubborn dude...but I say that in friendship. :)

You know, the VW Jetta and Audi were using the same platform...under the paint and body panels it was almost the same car. With of course a big difference in the price. Snob appeal I guess it is.

So, for some of us, we get more enjoyment out of owning a higher end item, even if in reality is it not much different. Yes, even Remington says they are all 870's.

But you've got me wondering, I wish I had a current production Express to play with to compare with the other 2.

That review is not exactly a review. It also isn't accurate: he claims the receiver is blued. It isn't. Even Remington refers to it as the 'standard Express finish'. The Wingmaster models are described as blued.

For whatever it is worth, I created a review of my PA08 upland in this subforum. Mostly pictures, very little of my opinions.

For your information, Remington did made the 870P in blue for many years, they just discontinued it recently.

.

Read the article: the review is a plain jane 870, by the author's own words, the cheapest one he could find, not an 870P.
