The JR Carbine Thread

Any one know of any dealers in Canada that have or could get a JRC 9mm that takes S&W M&P mags? JRC website shows that they make them, started producing them late Q4 2014. I have an M&P 9 with lots of mags....would be awesome to have a carbine that used the same mags. Might try Irunguns or Prophet river as I know they import...to bad our dollar is in the crapper, defiantly end up spending more that route.

The Calgary Shooting Centre had one about....a month, six weeks ago?? Another place that usually has very good stock on JRC is TNT Gunwerks in Regina.

Same question was asked yesterday. If you can't actually find one that has the M&P magwell, get the Glock model and order the magwell direct from JRC. $75+ 15 USD.

From the other thread.
The magwell assembly is available from their store and can be shipped to Canada.

Special Instructions for Shipping to Canada: We can ship most Replacement Parts, Accessories, and Tools to Canada, but import/export laws prevent us from shipping barrels and bolts. We have to charge an additional $14.95 for each package shipped to Canada to cover significantly increased international postage costs, which were increased again on 01/27/2013.

We Combine Shipping to Canada. If you are purchasing more than one item at a time, only check the "Ship to Canada" option on your first selection. For additional selections check the "Additional Item To Canada N/C" option to avoid being charged the additional shipping fee again in the same order.

Dealer Inquiries Welcome!

Thanks, that should be super easy. And if a guy did that might be able to sell the spare f#@$ing glock parts to someone who will actually use them.

What size of washer/shim did you guys use to be able to use a aftermarket hand guard. I know some guys have used the VW washer, just need to know the dimensions of it, i.e. how thick.

Thanks

just to be clear; you DON'T need any shim with a number of different hand guards. I have an ATI 13in. on mine, and a shim is not required. Better to choose the hand guard you want, then determine if you need a shim or not.

Exactly. I just installed a YHM 12.625" and no washer was required.

Finally, got some much needed group therapy!!!!!!

Just got home from shooting my new JRC NR .40 S&W, for the first time........... :)
The recoil is unique and it's a hoot to shoot.
After the initial sight in, my scope seems stuck (this has happened before, with this scope). I kept shooting, hoping to jar it loose, to no avail.....I might have to put it on my 12ga slug gun, for a shot or two ;)
The result was a 3 1/4", twenty three shot group, at 50 yards, seated, using a bipod (Fab Defense T-Pod G2), with American Eagle 165 gr FMJ ammo.
As you can see, she's hangin' a bit to the right.
I'm very pleased with the rifle. 50 rounds, without a hitch :)

(FYI - The two in the bull are .270 Win)

JR Carbine .45ACP hand guard swap.

This is my recently acquired JR Carbine Zombie Edition. The hand guard is too heavy and too short.

Step 1. Loosen the nut with a flat screwdriver/hammer and unscrew the hand guard.

Here is the 15 inch hand guard I ordered from aliexpress for $60. Looks pretty good! (h ttp://www.aliexpress.com/item/TAC-Vector-Optics-KeyMod-Tactical-15-inch-One-Piece-Free-Floating-Handguard-Mount-Bracket-with-Detachable/32251948932.html)

Step 2. Remove the barrel nut (I think its called). I don't own an AR wrench yet (it's in the mail) but I do have a strap wrench. I also don't own a vise, so after placing the rifle between my thighs and giving it a twist, it came off.

Here are the 2 different types of *VW Transmission Drain Plug Washer* that I was able to purchase for under $3 at the VW dealer in North Bay. I used the silver one.
Thanks to the guy in this video for the tip: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KhAh376HWI

Step 3. The hand guard has a anti-rotation screw that secures it to the barrel nut.

and voila the new barrel nut is free.

Step 4. Use the VW washer and attach the barrel nut without scratching the barrel.

Step 5. Use strap wrench to tighten.

Step 6. Screw on the hand guard without scratching the barrel. Align it to the existing rail on top and screw in the anti-rotation screw.

Once I receive the AR wrench (h ttp://www.aliexpress.com/item/365-Best-Quality-All-In-One-Tool-For-223-Ar15-Tactical-Armorer-s-Rifle-Combo-Wrench/2052986243.html) I'll snug up the retention nut (I think its called)

I have also ordered fake magpul BUIS (h ttp://www.aliexpress.com/item/Armiyo-Gen-1st-Back-up-Front-and-Rear-Folding-Sight-Mechanical-Spotting-Scope-Set-20mm-Mount/1644408622.html) which have not arrived.

I'm thinking about putting a vgrip on the hand guard or possibly a magpul afg. I bought a UTG butt pad from amazon.ca because I like how it looks, not for recoil hehehe

I want to swap the pistol grip for a black one. I'd like to eventually get the barrel threaded for an A2 style flash hider too.

I think I might paint the butt stock black and leave the receiver/etc black/green. I might just buy a new butt stock cheap from aliexpress.

I have been looking at a barrel shroud from here: h ttp://www.elmfg.com/store/barrelshroud.html#_202

Specifically this type: h ttp://www.elmfg.com/pics/302.jpg

It would cost about $100 all said and done.

This is the first time I've done this, but it didn't take very long!

Thoughts? Questions?

A short review of the JR Carbine .45

I took this in a trade. I've wanted one for a while. It worked great for the first 3 mags I put through.
Then it went to sh!t. FTF, FTE, !#@$!@#$$%#!%$ and it jammed up so bad with a live round in the chamber that I had to totally take it apart. The hammer was stuck halfway between cocked and hitting the firing pin. As I removed the lower the hammer completed its travel forward...with a live round chambered and the action locked... yikes...

Every screw holding the rifle together was loose as F and because I have Norinco .45ACP ammo, it was dirty as F.

I cleaned it really well, lubed it really well and tightened all the screws (including the butt stock castle nut and buffer tube). It now works WAAAY better. Not 100% but I'm not giving up yet. I'm going to try some cleaner ammo and whatever else I can to get the rifle to 100% reliability.

Overall, it's an awesome rifle with low recoil. The ncstar red/green dot was sighted in perfectly when I received it.

The Mag threads in the initial sticky as dead. Does anyone have suggestions on non oem glock mags that don't cause feed issues? 9mm

The 40 S&W KCI mags I had wouldn't work in my TD or JR. In each case the top of the mag was getting chewed up, out of spec garbage. Sold them as is for parts or repair on the EE for pennies on the dollar. Got some real Glock mags (short and extended) and they all run like a top. IRG pinned them all to 10.5 rounds for easy loading, as I specified. Very happy with my purchase. Whether the 9mm KCI mags are better than the junk I bought, I can't say.

Just pay a few dollars more and get the real thing:

In stock, in Canada at Irunguns:

Never tried the Pmags, don't know how good they are in the carbines.

With OE glock mags it works flawless. My next project is replacing the buffer tube (previous owner destroyed numerous threads. How do I remove the buttstock from the buffer tube?
