Savage 10TR le/military

Has anyone with the out of spec barrel issue received their rifle back from Grech Outdoors yet? 6 months and counting :sok2
Mine is at another service center since April.
There is another user who has been waiting with Grech since last September.

After many calls between myself, my service center and Savage in the USA it appears that Savage USA is now waiting on the BATFE for an export permit for the barrels.
I hope that this is true and things will get moving soon.

I tried speaking with Savage Canada but they wash their hands of the matter because they only manufacture rimfire rifles.

It seems some of the barrels were shooting way off center bore. Like 20+MOA, it sounds like. The barrel seemed to be bent, or ill-fit, and apparently the receiver is OK, so just a barrel change to fix.

Mine was shooting 32" to the right at 100 yards, Grech has had it since November. 26 2014!
I emailed savage Canada with no response, going to turn up the heat, most people are having good luck with their units but the ones that are out, are way out! Savage has dropped the ball for those of us in this group, if you want one of these from a sponsor, make sure they test fire it before shipping because I got the cold shoulder from the guys I bought it from! This makes a guy lean towards the big box sellers that take back an obvious faulty rifle!

Anyone having an issue with the accu trigger? i have had my rifle out 4 or 5 times, after the last time i read in this string where someone got better groups by loosening off the bedding screws and progressively tourquing them to 30 and 35 in/lbs, i followed those directions. Went to the range and the rifle would not #### with the bolt. Lossened the screws off a bit was able to shoot a few rounds and rifle refused to #### with the bolt. removed the action from the stock was determined possibly that the trigger was set too light. Didn't have the tool, took the rifle home a little flustered. Now regardless of if the trigger is turned all the way up or down the rifle will not ####. Place the action on safe, trigger cocks take off safe firing pin moves forward. next option is maybe to blow out the trigger with compressed air, I have used rubbing alcohol to clean the rear and trigger make sure its clean, no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? any idea who to take it to in the Ottawa Area? Any help would be appreciated. One other thing not sure if the accustock is warped a tad but this has to be the biggest PIA to place the action back in the stock of any othe 30 plus rifles I own. Trying to get the button on trigger housing to engage the lever for the takedown is brutal.

Has anyone cut down the barrel to say 20" and re-threaded it? Mine currently sits in an XLR chassis and makes me look like a much better shooter than I probably am...with reloads of course...but I would like to shorten it, re-install the accu-stock and use it for hunting from time to time. Am I nutz???

Unless doing the work yourself, *might* be better off selling it and buying one in the 20" model:

Even with a 20" barrel it's still a bit of heavy rifle for packing through the bush, don't you think?

Mine goes in easy...I think you may have found your problem. Does everything function properly outside the stock? Check the trigger pins, are they fully in?

Somewhat, but not overly so. Moose hunts are becoming to difficult and my deer hunts are from a blind and/or stand, so not really bushwacking.

Sure I could buy a 20", but I already know I have a great shooter in the one I have.

I hunted with mine last year and it was more the bulk that was the issue and not the weight. I would love to have a 20" barrel but it shoots well now so I don't want to mess with it. However if yours is a tack driver you really don't have to carry it very far. I was in a new area so had to resort to road hunting to explore the area. Spotted two white tail, got out of the truck and dropped them both one after another. So I estimate that I walked a total of maybe 10m tops with mine. Haha :)

To add to this discussion, picked up a 10TR (24" barrel) this summer from SFRC . Swapped over my Bushnell Elite 10X40 with TPS rings and 20 moa 1-piece base from my 10FP; all bolts/screws torqued to factory recommendations including action screws; bored sighted as per established methods. Yesterday headed to range for first time; first 3 shots off the paper right approx. 30" @ 100 yards. FYI, 10FP easily shot 1/2" groups at 100, no problem with sighting in, etc.
Had shooting partner do 3 shots to confirm...eventually ran out of windage adjustment to get POI near center of target. Grouping of shots not an issue...
Have not contacted SFRC yet, but very soon. Any suggestions who else to call? Savage? Is this a barrel problem or scope base hole misalignment?

Join the club, sorry to hear you are one of us who got a bent barrel, I am saddened at the lack of QA at savage, on a positive note I think one of our group here had a bad one and it was from sfrc and they traded it out which is better than the guys I bought mine from who just said send it to Grech out doors,, where it has been for well over 9 months, this is a black eye on savage for sure!
As I said in a previous post, anyone who buys one of these should do it in person or have the seller test fire it before purchase. It seems if you have a good one it is a tack driver,,, if not then it is waaayyy out!
Cheers Bob
We were thinking the scope base drillings first but no, it is the barrel!

Must be nice to be allowed to take more than one on the same hunt.
