Parker hale m82-m87-C3-C3A1 Rifles

That's fantastic Rob. The rifle that my UK friend sold was an actual C3a1 however with a McMillan A2 replacement stock and a MST-100 US Optics scope. Just about as close as you can get to the correct C3a1 which DND has just retired.

If anybody out there has info on C3 (R-21187 to R-39519) or C3a1 (00001G to 00500G) complete rifles or parts pls PM.

Cheers, Ron

The OPP C1A1 rifles were sold on condition that they be exported offshore. They were, and then they were purchased and
imported back into Canada. I have a pair of them. The Rcmp sig pistols were returned to sig because of cracked frame issues. I
got about 50 of them and some of the frames were re placed on them. They were not a direct sale and most of the guns had
the police markings polished off.

Interesting statement. An expert in the UK has made the same comment about C3's. A "bunch" were sent to Parker Hale; repaired (I have no details however have been told records exist on a few of these by serial number; then sold as M82 target rifles to the public. Source is very reliable. I was under the impression that destruction took place in Canada however that statement could not be substantiated. Anybody have any knowledge of this era's wheeling and dealing (about 1985/86). Ron

Hi everyone.
Im over the water in the UK and have been reading through a lot of the posts and its an amazing source of information. Very hard to find here in the UK.
I have a Parker Hale TX1200 7.62 which is currently set up as a Peep sight target rifle but I'm looking to upgrade it to a Scope and Magazine.
I am finding it very hard to find a magazine for it and wonder if anyone here can give me some serial numbers or manufacturers of mags that will fit this rifle. Its currently got the spring ramp with the door at the bottom of the rifle.
Does anyone have any detailed photos of a Mag fitted to these rifles?
Also is there any scope mounts I can go looking for or does anyone have any they want to sell on?
It does have the holes already drilled for a scope mount.

Cant seem to post any pictures :0(

You should talk to Bill Smallwood at Norman Clark gunsmiths, only there on Friday.
He will be able to steer you in the right direction.
A real gent and very helpful.

25 years ago when I was in my early 20s I bough some sort of Parker Hale target rifle from a guy at the Toronto Jan/7 gun show. He
Had a collection of enfield and hale rifles and had these new unfired target rifles. If I remember correct it was an enfield action in 7.62 with a bull barrell and in a heavy target stock. It had no sights and was a single shot rifle with no magazine and from the info I found in a a big book on guns was not designed to eject, manual Load and unload. The 1200 number some of yous, mention sounds familiar but it seemed to be a bit of an odd ball and had issues with casings sticking in the chamber with commercial ammo. Any idea and info on it would be appreciated from the experts even thoughI no longer have it. Thanks--dieseldog!

Well after reading through this thread 4 times in the past week I figured I would join in. I don't have a C3 or a1 but have used and fallen in love with them. So I have started my build. This will of course be a clone and I am not fully sure what route I will go.

For now though, what I have;

-Original walnut stock
-1200TX action
-1200C donor barreled action with mag
-Parker Hale Bi-pod with mount first gen without edge
-Fwd Rack (hunting for mounting screws though any help?)
-Also have all the allen head bolts, but have found that they are a different thread pitch then the civi actions, so still on the hunt.

What I am still piecing together;

-Barrel
Either going new blank turned down to right specs, or I have thrown my feelers out for a 1200TX barrel. Have found a few leads but waiting for replies.

-Fwd Rack mounting screws
Surprisingly with all the stuff I have found this I am having issues with haha they seem fairly simple

-Optic Mount
Well both actions have them, always hunting for the one though

-Optic
I have a lead on a few ways. Not sure what I want to do on this. Kahles is not that hard to find, Unertl well we all know, Leupold its hard to find the original style and I noticed it wasn't even mentioned here but it did appear on some and even is mentioned in the Pam listed here already, or go S&B with a rail, and switch to a McM stock haha. The last route is probably cheaper then going Unertl

So she is going to be a shooter. It will be used for competition, hunting, and fun. Though I will admit I am more excited for this build then any other I have done. Probably because of the amount of research, and hunting for parts I have done. Its taken me all around the world to hunt for knowledge and parts for this thing and have gotten to chat with some really cool people. Though it definitely is not a budget build. With the amount of duties and import fees that have come from the simplest of parts it is retarded, heck don't look at my long distance phone bill hahaha

Anyways this is the longest tag to a thread I have done, and have no fear once I get all my ducks in a row pics will follow.

1200 TX/C actions would use the Parker Hale commercial aluminum 22/28 bases, this would be a C3 clone, which would have used a Kahles ZF 69 6-42 scope with Parker Hale RALS4 rings, they are hard to find now
The Unertyl was not officially used on the C3 but rather the upgraded C3A1 ( used a PH M87 action with a special mount for the Unertyl)) , although there were some tests and prototype bases used to accommodate the Unertyl on the C3 action

Do your homework before putting out a bunch of cash

There is a wealth of knowledge here on these rifles, so ask questions, many will help you

I can supply reference pics of my rifles if needed

Good Luck

Have no fear I have tons of homework done, and so much reference material I don't know what to do with it. Its why I finally took the plunge, but that is also why I am not a stickler to those exact mount/optics specs. Like you mentioned there was tests for different mounts/optics, heck like I mentioned, no one has even done the Leupold version let alone mentioned it.... that is what is holding me on choosing the optics route.

Though twincam.... this thread could really do with some reference pics for sure... I noticed it is very lacking because of age and many people deleting their pics in the 4 times I have gone through this thread!! Help for inspiration also!

Well the ZF69 ain't no S&B , but it's Ok for an older fixed 6X scope, The USO MST-100 is a good scope for a C3A1 clone if you want to spend 5K plus, there were some in USA for sale. It is also calibrated in yards, not meters like the C3 sniper scope
You will have a hard time finding a MacMillan A2 stock for a M87, I would think, so good luck.

looking good!!

How do you find the Kahles ZF 69 for actual shooting? I have only ever used the Unertls. Leaning more that way sense I may have sourced a M87 action that will go the other route

Well I found the rings, have two ZF69 on standby waiting to find out what reticle they have, action on route to the smith for a barrel. So looks like I will try the C3 route and hold off on the C3A1 as it looks a lot more spendy.

The only things I am having trouble finding are stupid little things to finish off the stock

Two rack screws 72, and 73 and the rear butt plate number 65 and well maybe 2x66 but they are just wood screws

looks like this;

I have the spacers and pad also the spacer bolts. I am just lacking the plate.

I have almost exhausted my search anyone have any leads? Or at least if someone can give me dimensions I might be able to fab one up. Rather try and find the parts though.

I will leave this parts diagram up here so people can reference, as I see most here post pics then remove them I assume so the dreaded pic hunter won't steal them, haha.

I found it on a UK forum, where I have sourced most my hard to find parts, and thought it would be a good addition for those looking for C3A1 exploded diagram

Do I understand that you are looking for the butt plate stacking mount as illustrated?

If you can't buy the one on eBay, I'd just make one.

I see QM 86 87 has some C3 items for sale in the EE. What surpised me was the scope I have the same number range as his except mine is in a set of Leupold rings. Not sure what I am going to do with it yet. Otherwise mine is exactly the same with a few more marks on the tube. Happy happy happy.
