This^^. Maybe in 20 yrs, you can get a Gen1 for $999....No, wait! It'll be a milsurp then and be a rare $3000 original XCR!

Yeah a couple buddies from work have them. One guy had his receiver crack and promptly sold the replacement he got. He told me he regretted buying it and should have just saved his money for a better rig.

Another buddy has one and he has had no problems with it. It shot ok but just feels like something you could buy from toys r us. Plus all the hideous screws and bolts make the damned thing look like Frankinstein. It just feels cheap. Not all polymer is created equal.
 
I had stopped my search on a Mini 14 with a Sparta stock......until I found an AR180b! (now, I decided to keep both, but the AR180b takes AR15 mags (LAR Beowulf) and I can't be more happy)

I would look for an AR180b.......hit the EE with a WTB ad.......
 
I have an SU16, of all the guns it ALWAYS makes the trip to Crown Land with me. I'd say i have close to 1K of Norinco through that thing. I think i've had two failure to fires in that whole time from what it looks like recessed primers not getting hit hard deep enough. Other than that, its always gone bang, never given me any trouble.

But hey, YOU keep dreaming of that unicorn NR 223 for $1000 bucks, while i go shoot my crap KelTec

I didn't even take mine to the range... Once I notice my ATRS mags didn't fit it went on EE. LOL...
 
Mini-14 in a Sparta stock or VZ-58. They're the only NR .223's in the $1000 price range I'd consider. If you can up it in to the $1500 range, an Ar180B is a good buy, but for a few hundred more and with a bit of patience/luck, you can pick up an XCR. My recommendation would be take the $1000 for this project, take $1000 worth of guns you have, sell them and get an XCR/Tavor.

XCR is junk. Over priced, poorly made and adopted by no one. It's not a black rifle, it's a wannabe semi auto something or other???

Well... Im also not a big fan of it, but just for 2 reasons. I facking hate all the versions of the stock, and it has the same accuracy as my 200$ sks.
Other than that its an ok rifle, Ive seen and handled much worse crap, even dangerous to the shooter crap.

This is exactly why I sold mine after about 500 rounds. My SKS shot just as good. Plus I kept having feed problems. This was latest gen with keymod in .223.

Nothing wrong with me. I never said you could get a used SL8 for a grand, that was someone else implying something. I believe I said " If you're patient, look for a used HK SL8." Never said "for a grand"
