Last summer I was fortunate enough to go shooting with a friend who owns an H&R Pardner. Though an overpowered and heavy shotgun for target shooting, it was exceptionally fun (I am a sucker for punishment). Since then I have begun reloading my own ammunition, which has only stoked the lust for a 10 gauge ever further.:shotgun:

Lo and behold, all my Google-fu has managed to find is the Browning BPS, Gold 10, or H&R Pardner. Research on the topic has revealed that the popularity of the 10 gauge has declined, along with the rise of the 12 gauge. Making my prospects to acquire such a thing, very limiting.

Even custom manufacturers only display chamberings available from .410 up to 12 gauge. I was hoping that even if I did have to shell out a few k for a custom shotgun, I would at least be able to get the chambering I want.

Does anyone have any information on the available 10 gauge shotguns, or any shop that offers 10 gauge chambering? How about sharing any stories/personal accounts? It would be greatly appreciated!

Keep an eye out on the Equipment exchange for shotguns here on CGN. If you don't have access, apply for it. Other than that check out the websites for some of your local gunstores or those that advertise here as sponsors. You can likely come up with a used Remington, Ithaca or a Browning BPS. Good luck in your quest. Bac4

They still make the browning BPS I think and the remington sp-10 if not you will just have to look for a used one. Why not get a 12g 3:1/2" gun.

My current shotgun can fire 3 1/2"...but I got the itch, need to have a 10 gauge of my own.:d

I totally understand though why most people have chosen the 12 gauge. This is purely just out of personal interest. From what I have read, the 16 and 10 gauge do out-perform the 12 gauge in very specific uses, but in the end the versatility of the 12 gauge is vastly superior for the average Joe.

I will continue to keep my eyes peeled in the EE. Thanks for the suggestion.

My favorite 10ga's are semi's. I had a bps and an original super goose bolt action when they came out but as I grew older appreciate the semi's and no 12ga will pattern as the 10ga does
I currently still have two golds with the steel receivers, a SP-10 and a Ithaca which I had briley fit choke tubes some years ago
Have also reloaded 10ga for probally 30 years including steel shot since the 90's
You will enjoy the 10ga
All the best

I still have my AYA 3 1/2" SxS.

Got close to selling it a little while back and may do so in the not too distant future. When that day does arrive, Longwalker has first kick at the cat on it, and the factory ammo and components I have. :redface:Just not quite ready to part with it yet.

If you are open minded regarding the holy black, I technically presently own four 10 gauge shotguns:

-reproduction flintlock blunderbuss
-sxs coachgun with damascus barrels presently at a gunsmith
-10x10x45-70 antique drilling, also damascus
-Ruko single barrel shotgun in the modern 10

The Ruko is very eye opening when you set if off.
