Can anyone identify this scat (found in kids playground/residential park)

I personally don't claim to be that good just from looking at a photo, not even on the internet. But I don't believe the hair would change colour unless perhaps it was coated with something from the animal's digestive system. The earlier statement that it was a cat is reasonable if only due to the amount of hair seen.

Pretty amazing they could catch a cat

Probably best you arm up, sit in your car across the playground, and keep watch. ;)

Too much guessing, find the tracks and post a pic. Something to scale would be good too.

Since chupacabra are never that far north, it must be that Kathleen Wynne has shaved her armpits again.
At least I hope it was her armpits.

Probably, it's gonna take some special skills to track the owl but hey, never say never. Laugh2

Owl? You think that is owl scat?

Pretty big #### for an owl isn't it? Then again one flew into my truck one night and the thing was huge, I thought I hit a midget who was trying to jump out of the way.

I never did check the paper to see if there was any missing

I can't be 100% sure but do think it's owl pellets (not scat). Owls like to use the same area (tree, fence post, etc.) to throw up balls of fur and bones from their stomach. Creatures on the ground usually go through these pellets to find anything digestible and weather soon makes a mess of the remains.

It's possible I guess. These were about the size of my thumb, it was on the walk way in a park, no trees at this spot for the owl to drop these. I didn't see any bones though,

I was assuming the fuss was because those scats were fresh.

I don't claim to know all the habits of all the owls but such woodland owls as I have encountered only drop pellets under their daytime roosting trees, and they don't look like that either.

For the win LOL!! Coyote and has been eating a cat or coon. Most of the wife's relative live in London and coyotes are a daily fixture. Her brother called recently saying a coyote was eating the dog food off the porch what should he do. My response "fill the bowl when he is done". The most favourite meal for a yote in my opinion is skunk. I have watched the buggers come literally a mile to grab a fresh road kill that even the highway guys can't get near
