Please stop posting your hunting videos.

Just my opinion....I'm not a hunter, never have been...my wife and daughter are Vegan and Right to Life for animals people against mass produced agriculture killing of animals...it is horrendous and we all know it...Now all of that said...I am not against hunting and the great adventure and culture of hunting in Canada...I never have been against it and I never will...My wife and daughter understand that and to some degree get that...their point is the animal death factories and the way they behave...
Hunting to me is something that is inherent in our NA culture...It has been a way of survival for thousands of years and today many choose it as to the opposite for many reasons including moral reasons...
I believe that if someone wants to post their shot/kill of a deer or whatever that is up to them it is a free country...If I want to check out the video that is up to me...If I can learn something from it such as I killed this deer with a .243 handloaded with this powder and this case and this projectile then that in my opinion is ok...For those that post their pic of a coyote killed out in the wilderness 500 miles away in the hinterlands who was minding his own business...Well I have issues with that...My opinion...
In other words I take exception to the killing of animals or people or any other living thing for the sake of ego....

How does posting hunting videos on youtube upset antis? They are'nt sponsored pop ups on your screen. If you search for hunting videos and then are offended by said video, you might need to see some kind of head doctor.

Starting int he late 1970's and for the next few decades, it was preached for gun owners and hunters :

"Out of sight, out of mind"

"Be Discrete, they will leave us alone"

THIS BACKFIRED HORRIBLY FOR GUN OWNERS AND HUNTERS!!!!!!

It is the absolute WORST thing any group can do.

Look at the current Bruce/Caitlin Jenner thing going on right now. Transgendered people have never had more acceptance than right now, and they didn't get it by hiding in the shadows in shame.

Part of the problem with being out of sight and out of mind, of trying to stay under the radar, is that you leave the field open for anyone to come along and make whatever statements they want.

Do we really want a video of some drunk guy with no idea what he's doing using a chainsaw to mangle a moose to be the number one result that comes up when someone does a search for "hunting video"? Do we want the guy who was caught on video smacking the heads of swimming animals to be the first result for "canadian outdoors?"

What we need to do is establish a solid foundation of positive material available, and not be obnoxious about it.

Between this thread and the "I am afraid to buy a gun in case the NDP win the election" thread from earlier, I can't help but be a little sad today.

Some inconsistencies here. Shooting Coyotes is important in managing wildlife. Where i live, in the Langleys, it is a no shooting zone. Clients of mine have a property of about 80 acres that is semi rural. I asked them about seeing Deer. They never do, too many Coyotes that eat the fawns. One generation and there are no deer. A friend got home from shopping, let the chiwawa out, Coyote took it from right by the rear tire.

In Powell River, a fellow i know shot a very bold and aggressive Cougar, 50 yards from his door in the middle of the day. The Cat was there for his chickens and peacocks.

Animals benefit from our lifestyles and thrive. Thinking of the numbers and range of Moose due to logging; but also, and especially Coyotes. I live right beside a golf course, see posters for missing cats in the neighborhood, they are not coming home.

I will not bow to the whimpers of people that are ignorant to how food gets on the plate.

I am not going to be shamed into thinking the legal and traditional actions that I do are not acceptable by a society that I don't give a damn about.

Not so long ago, a moose or deer head on the hood showed success, now, it's a sign of shame/

To much political correctness for too long has pussified men

Shawn

This suggests that you are ashamed of hunting... You are doing it legally so who cares what people the antis think. There is plenty of things non shooter/ non hunters do that don't really appeal to me or I am against. I would say be proud of this activity and post vids and pics.

No. It's not illegal. It's what this country was founded on. Don't tell me what to do.

Post them on Youtube like everybody else.

90% of the people crying on social media have never left the city. F&$@ 'em.
As for 'honouring the animal' and don't laugh/get excited, screw that too. It is food, and I'm happy that I now have a lot of it.

The only thing I can add is some people on "our side of the fence" are a lot closer to being on the anti's side than they think...

I think some of you are misinterpreting what the OP has said.

Most of us would agree that we can't be silent about guns or hunting, because we'll end up losing both of those things.

However, there's a difference between being proud of what we do and conveying that in a positive way, and being a complete idiot about it, which portrays us in a negative way.

If you're proud of a deer you shot and killed humanely, few people are going to want to punish the community for that.

What the OP is talking about are things like shooting a deer's face off (because the hunter tried to make a head shot instead of a vitals shot, and missed), and then the deer runs away with blood pouring out of what's left of its head.

Those videos serve no purpose, and in fact serve the other side's purpose, which is getting people on the fence to want to be against us, too.

If you have a video that shows you shooting a deer and it drops like a stone, that is entirely good for our community to post, because it shows fence sitters "Hey, that deer didn't suffer at all, maybe hunting isn't so bad".

Absolutely.

A video was made of a caribou. It had been gut shot and its intestines were hanging out. The caribou was staggering and tripping on its own intestines, disembowelling itself. A group was laughing, thought this was really funny. They were upset when the station manager refused to broadcast the video over the tv network.

From what I read here, there are those who disagree, and believe that this should have been broadcast.

Start flooding social media with videos of what goes on inside abattoirs and chicken processing facilities, butchering lifetime-caged animals that never had any free-range chance at freedom and had no chance to evade their fate. Let/force the self-righteous anti's BBQ-ing their once cellophane-wrapped "I didn't get my hands dirty" meat products see what they themselves are responsible for and rub their noses in it. The hypocrites, they're practically Morlocks (a bit over the top? lmao).

Does a driving school post videos of happy successful students? Or do they post the video of their student who read ends a dump truck?

Does an airline post videos of sunny vacation spots? Or do they post videos of angry passengers after a flight was canceled.

Does a university post videos of graduates excelling in their chosen fields? Or do they post videos of lib art majors pouring my half caf soy latte at Starbucks?

Nobody's advocating that hunters crawl under a rock. But we DO need to "manage the message". Whether or not a hunt is legal is immaterial in public opinion. "Will posting this video help to secure the future of hunting in Canada for me and my grandchildren?" If the answer is anything but "yes", then keep the vid for your own use and show only those that can benefit from viewing it... Like, what not to do.

And I'll say it again: Who has time to film their hunt? Most times, I don't even have time to take a pic until it's on the game pole, let alone before pulling the trigger!

No, no it is not, that is exactly what has gotten us to where we are politically. It's by hiding what we do, blemishes and all that we have been reduced and weakened. The entire point of this website, right from it's founding day was to be an outspoken venue for gunowners and all they do with guns. Hiding is not an option. If you think it is, you are on the wrong site.

Out of sight, out of mind.

This is the best strategy for gun owners.

This is because of that bear video .
I saw it , heck I commented in defence of them.

I would post video of my hunts , but I have no time to fudge around with a camera once I find what I am hunting.
you will have to settle for stills of myself and my animals.
Or my elk in the back of my 4 runner (in one piece) lol
