I am in the market for some new wool clothing.I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Brownings full curl wool line.I have searched high and low around my area for army surplus wool but can't seem to find anything,in my size at least.A few stores close by carry the Browning stuff.I know there are other companies making wool stuff but I would have to order online which kind of worries me because I cant try it on first.

I don't know how big you are (or hard to fit) but don't count out Filson or Woolrich. These cost ALOT but they will last for ever. Search Codet out on line. This is a Canadian company that makes very good wool clothing.

Filson. Expensive but very high quality. I'm a larger frame guy and couldn't find anything milsurp that would fit me right.

If you do not want to spend a lot, I would go check around thrift stores. Can find wool stuff fairly easily. Might not be in style, but it is still wool.
 
Codet. Wool pants. Canadian made. The best wool out there. You can get them in field green or super ###y buffalo plaid.
 
Empire Canvas Works is an excellent place to deal with, google them. They will take your individual measurements and make stuff to fit you exactly. They are American, so be prepared to shell out some coin. I have had their wool camp coat for ten years now, best outdoor jacket I have ever had.
 
I am sure I have some mil surplus (Dutch?) pants around from when I was a younger & thinner man. Do not hesitate to look at mil if in good shape. Thrift stores as stated are worth a look.
 
Thanks for the suggestions,I guess the Browning stuff isn't too popular.a j cave,I once was a thinner man too,any milsurp I hve found is for the thin and trim :(.
 
Eaton's catalogue. Stanfields pure wool underwear, plus other good brands of wool pants, wool jackets and coats of various types, wool socks, you name it and they had it with free delivery. And the quality was always exactly as described.
Oops, maybe the T. Eaton Co. with their twice annual catalogues are not in business anymore!

this is what I found out, too! I am not a giant of a man by any means, sure I got a beer belly that leads the way, but wtf, I couldn't believe there wasn't a pair of army style pants in a big surplus clothing shop that I could wear comfortably. After trying on a few pair of the biggest size made, I finally found a freak pr that was just ok. So, I bought them with the thought in mind to loose a little weight and enjoy the loose fitting cargo style pants. It ain't happened, yet!
 
I just got back from Costco a couple hours ago and they had Merino blend tops and long johns, 84% polyester,11% merino wool & 5% spandex, for $19.99 each. I don't have first hand experience on how good these are myself, but others here in the past have said that they are pretty good.
 
First wool camoe i bought was a browning set , everything was great until i got stuck in a heavy downpour . It got heavy and oh my good it stunk,was warm . I then switched to a weatherby wool set and same problem,smell when wool gets wet.i think that polar tec in 300 weight was amazing along with polar tuff ,then you had every ofshore manufacturer making fleace clothing that are so low grade and pill.ive had a polar tec outfit that is still going strong after twenty years and still better than a lot of high tec products that you sweat in. I still wear merino wool and buy the best when i can.like boots at bass pro , there all made the same crap.
 
Look up Shrewbows.com (Ron LaClair Traditional Archery Shoppe) for a long wool pullover shirt that isn't cheap but nor is it outrageous compared to a lot of wool stuff. (US $)

I bought some of these last year and were surprised how well they worked out for me for the price. Thought they did a good job a keeping me warm and wicking away the sweat
 
I found a nice pair of Columbia wool pants on the clearance rack last fall at an outdoors store... Typical quality for Columbia gear, great material and primary stitching, had to sew all the buttons back on it tho after the first outing....

If you get a chance check random outdoor stores... These were regular $200ish? I paid $80.

I picked up an all black wool poncho for wearing inside the deer blind, quality is good, shipping was fast and reasonable.
