Savage 10TR le/military

A couple things to update.

1. Handloads ~ I just loaded and shot some 168 gr A-Max bullets over 41 gr of Varget with stellar results. The 3 round group size was .250". I'll try to post a picture with calipers to show the result.
2. Boyds gunstocks just sent notification that my new stock is on its way. Ordered a prairie varminter with an adjustable cheek rest in a nice brown/ white laminate. Pix to follow.

Please do follow up with pics. I'm interested to hear your feedback on the stock and adjustable comb.

Thanks,
Cal.

In regards to all us folks who got a barrel with crazy excessive runout( bent barrel) can anyone tell me if I take my rifle back from these guys, ( because it has been almost 10 months) is there a good gunsmith/company that could straighten it, I just would like to be shooting it before I retire and my eyes go completely useless!
Thanks

God's Balls, you still haven't gotten your rifle sorted out? That's just not cool.

I was tempted to pick up a second 10TR actually, Frontier Firearms has the 20in, but I don't really need another .308....

Yes and we just added another poor schmuck to our group, if you get another, make sure they test fire it or promise to take it back if the barrel is out, if they will do that you are relatively safe!

Well, I hope they get their heads out of their @$$es and get your rifle fixed. 10 phucking months is not cool. You'd think the retailer would have exchanged it for a new rifle for you by now, or Savage would comp you a huge credit for your troubles.

The repair depot is blaming it on Savage and savage blames it on Savage Canada and Savage canada won't answer emails, phone calls tomorrow. Oh yea the chick that talked to me at Savage USA gave me the impression they couldn't give a s#!t, disappointing to say the least! The place I bought it from just gave me the phone # of the repair depot,, Grech outdoors, and washed their hands of it! Grech got it on November 26 2014, ( cost $46 to ship) and didn't get to even look at it till Mid January!

Geezuz, what a $hitty experience. I figure you've already written a strongly worded letter to head office spelling out your displeasure?

Most certainly not!

You bag one and you're done. Mind you, that's in QC.

Moose tags are 2 for 1, in the 2 being the hunters and the 1 being the Bull/Calf or Cow, depending on the year.

To be clear - I wasn't implying anything illegal had occurred.

Man that's too bad about the 1 bag limit. Is that all of Quebec or just around your area? We're allowed 3 annually but not all from the same region. We had to go through the hunting regs to pick a region that allowed 2 bag limit. Ended up driving almost 12hrs to get there only to tag out in 2 minutes. Good and bad I guess.... haha One thing's for sure is that my 10TR has no problem reaching a kilometer with my hand loaded ammo so it's almost unfair at typical hunting distances.

Yes have been talking to Savage USA, they don't care, email to Savage Canada, no response, another letter and phone call going today! I was wondering if a good gunsmith could bend it straight, if so I would tell them to send it back to me and get it fixed myself, it's a PIA watching all you guys having fun with yours and ours are sitting in limbo!

For a Mil/LEO special these are some of the sh!ttiest rifles Savage has put out in a long time. Then to not even stand behind it? Wow. Thank you to everyone who posted, saved me from buying one.

I was able to get ahold of a Savage Canada rep. He seemed genuinely concerned about the length of time people have been waiting for replacement barrels. He provided me with his email address ( ebarriage@savagecanada.com ) to provide him the serial number and what issues were experienced with the rifle and how long the rifle has been at the warranty centre. I encourage anyone who is still waiting for a replacement barrel, to contact Mr. Barriage regarding this problem.

Awesome, I'm sure bobdbldr would definitely appreciate that!

A lot of us here are very satisfied with the rifle and it really sucks to hear that some people really got screwed. I hope those folks get their rifle sorted out.

We appreciate your concern, I sent my letter to Mr. barriage Thursday night and am hoping for a positive reply, if you know anyone else that has the bent barrel please let them know, as irocudont said the more letters the better. Fingers crossed!

Thank You,

I will send mine in this week if possible.
I want to call the repair depot one more time to see if there are any new developments.
I'm crazy busy at work and I still have to prepare 200 rounds for this weekens sharpshooter competition in Petawawa.
