Dlask Sporter Chambered .920 Barrels

Also keep in mind that an 18inch .920 barrel may be a little unwieldy for extended off hand silhouette shooting. So one of their shorter barrels may be better suited as it cuts down on making the gun too front heavy.

Will you be using irons or a scope/red dot?

Say it isnt so!
Are you taking about dlask barrels being heavy?
Thought that was a trolls job , or atleast thats what a few say.
Tacsol it what you should be looking at.
Or upgrade from tacsol to a kidd, volquartsen or Mag research if you can find one.

My 16" sporter chamber .920 will do the 1/2 inch (5 round) group at 45 yards so far, still trying to hone my skills, as well as stocking up on CCI SV.

I'm not saying it will do it every time, but I'm sure I'm the biggest factor here. I'm very happy with the barrel. Since these results I've swapped into a Dlask receiver, and Friday I'll be ordering a Dlask CNC bolt. So we shall see if there's any room for improvement.

Get a volquartzen extractor and say goodbye to your problem.

So I bought a 12.5" sporter chamber bull barrel used on here. Used ownership-wise, but basically a new unused barrel.

Over 200 rounds, and had to cycle the charging handle manually every time. Used Winchester 555, American eagle high velocity, and Winchester super X. None fed reliably, and I made some metal shavings from somewhere, I can't find the precise source. Assuming it was metal being shaved off the head of bullets. Stovepipes, fail to extract, and misfires were all encountered. 90s Ruger receiver, 90s original hammer spring and metal trigger guard. (Meaning non-plastic parts:)

I sent Dlask an email asking if this was normal until break-in, and got zero response. I even offered to drive it to him to inspect and give me his opinion, and stated I was NOT looking for warranty service.

Is this a charging spring being too strong, the tight tolerances of a dlask sporter chamber versus OEM, or what?

Any ideas / suggestions welcome, here or via PM.

It normally would. But I have had a VQ extractor in there since before it was cool. That and the auto bolt release are always my first two mods when I get a new 10/22.

Extraction is not the issue from a mechanical side. Best I can tell it's a chamber thing....

I've not had a single malfunction since I installed them. The single most best and cheap upgrade you can do for your 10/22.

Went out yesterday. Prior to these groups I had a factory ruger receiver, it shot very well. I didn't think a receiver swap could gain even more accuracy. Fliers were almost non existent. I'm still working with a factory ruger bolt that I've polished the top side and radiused the rear underside on, also a volquartzen extractor. The barrel is a 16" Dlask .920 sporter chamber. And all groups were shot at 45 yards from the bed of my truck prone on bags.

Here's the rifle,

And the groups.

Savagelh - what makes of barrels with target chambers do you have?

Thanks for all the input and the photos guys. Guess I should have mentioned I've put several cases of CCI through that stock rifle/action over the years.

The only ammo that wouldn't reliably feed was HV Yellow Jacket hollow points - can't remember who used to make them.

I was leaning towards a Dlask as its a Canadian company...and I like to support the local talent. I'm just not fussy on a threaded barrel.

Thanks again guys. Tom

one green mountain and two dlasks

I got a Dlask 8.5" with a sporter chamber, I got decent reliability with it. No issues with the 10s use the BC 25's I get 1 in 50rds or so.
