Shot this "lucky" group sighting in my "Sabotless"/Smokeless Muzzleloader.

I pre-rifle 250 gr .452 dia FTX bullets and load 39 gr XMP 5744 to achieve a MV of 2150 fps. Average 10 shot < 2"groups

What I was trying to do here is sight in 2" high at 100 so it is on at 150

Took first shot, raised 2 clicks and shot 4 more

A nickel covers the 4 shots - too bad I changed the setting otherwise I'm sure all 5 could be covered by a nickle

Had some luck with my .54 cal Round ball gun as well

Here's an 8 shot group at 110 yds

.535 Hornady RB, 100 gr Swiss 1.5FG, .023 Teflon coated patch, 1730 FPS

The first one is a Remington 700 I converted to a Muzzleloader. The barrel started as a green mountain 45 acp barrel blank 1:16 twist .442/.452

The second is a Hawken Rifle that I restocked and rebarreled to .54 cal using a Colerain barrel 1:56 twist .016 deep radius groove rifling

That's some fantastic shooting. What rifles are you using ?

I got advice from a shooter that I found on another forum. He competes at the NMLRA shoots in Friendship Indiana. He recommended loading a much tighter patch/ball combination than what most people use (often bore dia or larger). He said in his posts that at Friendship everybody "loads" a roundball but nobody "shoots" a roundball.

When loading the tight ball you change the shape a bit - creating flats on the sides from the rifling that ensure the ball is going to spin. Sounds like this would be real hard to load? Not really - watch this video from the shooter that gave the advice:

For me the .535 ball & .023 teflon patch was tight enough to reduce my groups from about a foot to about 4"

He also stated that for the past 30 years teflon coated patches has been the standard at Friendship. I ordered 3 different sizes to try. Luckily I had a cut off piece of barrel - so I could load & push thru to see how the patch held up. One size tore - not because of the teflon but weak cloth.

I would recommend trying the 3 sizes and examining the shot patches for tears

Here's a link to a good article I found
