Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, the factory installed front sight on my 10/22 is sloppily installed only 2/3 of the way into the dovetail. It's an easy fix but just wondering if it's a normal occurrence with Ruger the lack of quality control?

Not yet I aim to before I adjust it. Might be like the old cooye I had the from sight on that was only half in the notch and deadly accurate.

I got a ruger in warranty that came miss drilled. Factory scope mount was way off bore axis. If it shoots off, GOOD luck getting quick turn around to get fixed. The Ruger warranty dealer is far from speedy.

Bud lol Ive been smithing for years warrantys don't mean a thing to me. I was curious about the lack of quality control at ruger... I guess they let a few sneak through.

Ya bought 10/22 the other month and they had the wrong springs installed on the trigger group. Their quality control sucks on the 10/22 line. Wasn't worth returning I had spare springs kicking around.

Well grrr I hate being replied to as BUD. I put it in warranty because the mounting holes were miss drilled ( lack of QC ) Theres been a few counts of crooked dovetail cuts. Crooked front sights on 2245s. All I was stating if its off and need to warranty it, because why fix it yourself when you can get a replacement good luck with snap shots. IF you gunsmith for years a sight not all the way in because the dovetail could be loose.

What the hell, it's been a few months since I ranted about the piece of crap 10/22 I got a couple years ago...

Since Obama got elected and the panic-buying of guns started, Ruger has been pumping out Rifle Like Objects to make a fast buck. Especially in the 10/22 line. QC has been for crap.

The one I got:

World's dullest router carved out the barrel channel for the stock. If you ran your finger down it, you'd spend the next couple hours picking out splinters.
Cast over-splash in the receiver around the ejection port. Google this one, it's been a surprisingly consistent re-occurring problem.
V-Block not even remotely tightened down.
The inside of the receiver wasn't just "a little rough" it was downright pebbly and needed a serious polishing for smooth functioning.

None of these were things that should have gotten past QC. I have no idea why people keep bragging up the 10/22. They used to be great guns. But the QC is non-existent now, and they're just... Junk. Overpriced junk at that.

I've since bought a 795, that out of the box worked flawless, and in terms of accuracy, makes my 10/22 hide in shame. And it was a little over half the cost (got it on sale for $175).

Hmm considering taking the barrel off and re-barreling it with a heftier barrel and dropping it in a new stock, maybe rework the channel in one of the old wood stocks scrap the sights and scope it.
