So it looks like we are headed towards a liberal minority gov. Anybody else plan on expediting some purchases?

Been eyeing my first AR for a while and a liberal gov will likely seal the deal and get me to take the plunge.

I've been leaning towards the DDMK18, but then saw NEA has a 10.5" with a CCS for a little less money(I like that stock). Either way I've got a few days to decide.

Few things I'd like to grab, ill wait and see what happens... It's not like the day after they get in all is lost. I'll wait for the bill to be brought up.

If anyone else but the cons get elected I'm buying an ar lower just in case I can get grandfathered. And all the non restricted firearms I can afford before a new regestery pops up.

My advice, go with the MK18... JP.

Just like you, that was what I was thinking too, I bought a ATI OMNI lower for $39, but that was back in september and now the lower is complete minus the stock LOL I could not resist building it.

I've encouraged my brother (RPAL holder, no restricteds, yet) to purchase a stripped AR15 lower, as well as an inexpensive pistol (Tokarev), for exactly this reason.

I think (and I could be wrong), this would "grandfather" him into both the restricted long gun and restricted handgun categories, should it come to that.

Yes, there are flaws in my line of thought: outright confiscation, possession only/no further acquisition allowed, or even a division of restricted long guns and handguns by calibre/gauge, type of action, etc.

I'm still hopeful it won't come to that, but just in case. Or in case Justin.

Call me crazy, but a $400 "insurance policy" by purchasing these two items seems like smart move...

I hope anyone whom can afford an AR lower or complete rifle purchase one immediately after the election if the Liberals or NDP win to send a statement. I was dreaming the other day, if I was a manufacturer, i could think of almost no better sacrifice than to supply Canadians with AR's at cost just to spite the government.

Just sold my Tavor to buy an AR-15. Not sure it'll be the wisest choice, trading a non registered black rifle for a registered one.

Time will tell.

They could go on restricting Tavor, 97, XCR an all alikes NR black rifles so i wont change nothing for that... JP.

Personally no; OTOH I am trying to make sure everyone I know has registered pistols, revolvers, and ARs.

You never know if the categories are going to get broken up further and the broader your collection of restricted guns, the better your chances of grandfathering IMO. Just a guess, but worth a try.

there is no provisions in the current act for any new grandfathering.

The liberals and NDP if they get into power will be far to busy with spending huge deficits, new taxes and status quoing us all into the poor house to even begin on new firearms legislation

All it takes is one idiot with a gun to change that.

Where's the best place to get a stripped lower right now?

I couldn't tell you the best, necessarily...I can tell you that I personally have gone with Saskatoon Gun Works' Aero Precision lowers because I think they're very good and the price seems reasonable. Conceivably they're cheaper or better elsewhere, I don't know. I think that Questar has Spike's lowers pretty cheap. But I have absolutely no complaints about SGW's prices or service.

Well, if I'd known that someone could guarantee that nothing would change, I definitely wouldn't have been worrying about anything. I genuinely didn't realize that if the Liberals won a majority, it wouldn't be possible for them to change the firearms act.

I'd like to see an American style run on guns, it would definitely send a message. But barring that I'll continue carrying on like normal, not much else I can do.
