Henry Lever .22's

I scope all my rifles but I just couldn't do it for the Henry lever gun.

Instead I mounted a flip up tang mounted peep sight, so I can still play cowboy but with a bit more accuracy.

There are special exemptions available but only with a note from your OH certifying that you can't see a flippin' thing without your bifocals....... ;)

Instead of a note... can I just walk into a few posts at the range?

I'm late to the party , but I'll say you will not regret buying it sk8r .
I have the same in 17hmr and it's a great little gun ! Tried scoping mine but just couldn't get a comfortable cheek weld when the scope was on it , so I have to shoot it open sites . I take it out during spring and put a box through it on gophers before I switch to my .22 . Lots of fun and very dependable ...also built to last .

A friend of mine just bought a .22LR model with the Octagon barrel, and it functioned flawlessly and reasonably smooth right out of the box. I was impressed.

Thanks all! :) Made up my mind & this has now joined the stable...... :d

Gonna take it out tomorrow & see if it goes "bang"...... ;)
Well I hope you are happy, I have just gone and purchased one of these as I have wanted to add a .22 lever to go with my 30-30. Dam You

OMG!! FUNNNNNNN!!!!! I LOVE this gun!! 200 rounds - not one jam, FTF or anything else. Just loads of fun (and accurate) fire. This might just get to be my absolute fave .22.. :D

Yeah, I'm thinkin' that'll work......:d

Given your senses of humor it's no wonder you bought Henry lever rifles. You'll fit in just fine the both of you.... :d

Hey sk8r, there's one almost mandatory accessory you need to get now. And that's one of those Caldwell flip up and reset targets. The DING! it makes and seeing the paddles flip away then all fall back just fits in with lever rifle shooting. I may or may not take the Caldwell target with me when I take out other rimfire rifles. But I don't think that the Henry has gone to the range without the Caldwell since I got the target.

Got that covered at my Club...... :d

Just joined the club with a late birthday present to myself:

Next up are some Skinner sights. Can someone tell me which model front sight to order if I'm going to go with the dovetail mounted peep?

I got the dovetail mounted peep on Henry and left the front sight alone.

You cant go wrong with a Henry Rifle. Like others have mentioned the main difference between the Frontier and the "classic" is the barrel and the sights. Personally I prefer the octagonal barrel as it looks more "authentic", but is heavier. Have you considered the pump action 22LR? Now that's a fun gun.

Great guns I have a standard .22 and a 45-70 but some models have a lot of drop in the stock, and to me feel uncomfortable

I'd skip the basic model in favour of the frontier if I were to do it again. I actually take my guns out in the field quite a bit and the basic model Henry always felt fragile to me. And it was horrendously inaccurate. Like 4" groups at 50 m bad.

my dad picked up the base model one and he loves it.
then he saw this a little while ago and he was a man on a mission, he stalked this gun until it was his.
he wont stop talking about it.

Henry Mare's Leg in 22.
nice match with his full size one.
fun as hell when sitting around camp plinking cans.
