Tavor-21 reliability

Thanks Blaxun, I'll try the 4 rounds in mag suggestion. At this point I'll try just about anything! It's just so frustrating when I hear that most folks are having no issues and I can't get 5 rounds out of a single mag!

Please let me know how you make out. If you prefer the standard-size magazines, there are a few dealers who offer 5.5-round pinned versions. The new PMAG M3s and Lancer AWF are excellent and I recommend both. LAR15s are also not bad, although I upgrade them with a Magpul self-lubricating follower and baseplate.

It's awesome, standing shooting is a blast! And cleaning is super easy! Has eaten every ammo I fed it no problem!

it pains me that the FDE color came to canada about 2 weeks after I got my Tavor. I still love the gun though.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I'll look into the mags, but I'm not convinced I don't have a lemon. I'll give it a shot (literally), this weekend at the range and see how she does.

I live in the tundra (far North) and my Tavor works perfect even in -30 and below. I get it wet, dirty, and have lots of fun. Definitely recommend.

Mines 100%, never have any issues. With the right ammo they can be super accurate also. Mine chews through 55gr easily with good accuracy but it really likes the heavier stuff like S&B 69gr match ammo. Love my Tavor and would never even consider getting rid of it. Sold my car to buy mine.

The only issues I have with mine are what I would call "Strictly even pinned" magazines: any magazine that is pinned to exactly 5 if I load it to 5 (or 10 round LAR, etc) then I have FTF and bolt hold issues on the very first round.

For my Tavor I exclusively now use LAR-15 mags that have Magpul L-plates on the bottom, which effectively makes them a 9.8 round magazine (can't fit a 10th, but lots of space after the 9th), and I have absolutely zero problems with any ammunition I use in them from really cheap American Eagle & surplus to reloads and Hornady steel match.

Mine blew up when a factory over pressure load was shot. All the energy went down into the pmag and broke the baby saving safety pin so the mag had to be repinned. Think flattened blow primer and massive extractor cutout on the rim of the case. The ejector, ejector spring and retaining pin were all damaged in the ordeal. A quick call to north Sylva had the free replacements on there way to me for a local gunsmith to install.

Exact same problem with mine. Worst is the damn mag north sylva sends with the tavor to begin with.
