Tavor Alternate Optics? AR332?

How does a 1-4 defeat the idea of CQB in a bullpup?

I'm not grasping what you don't like about it for short range shooting that you find a fixed 3x resolves?

My biggest issue with a 1-4 compared to a RDS for CQB is that the 1-4 (or any magnified optic) has a set eye relief distance so when you are shooting in different positions the rifle still has to be tucked into your shoulder. When I was shooting modified prone in the CQB class I went to this summer it was much easier with my AR that had the aimpoint PRO than it was with my other AR that had a Hi-Lux CMR 1-4. With the Aimpoint I just set the rifle wherever it was comfortable and looked through and had a good sight picture, with the 1-4 I had to shorten the stock and pull the rifle in close which was more awkward and slower. Both work but in some situations the red dot is far easier to use. The RDS is also more forgiving when you go from low ready to firing position quickly. Take the target out to 100 yards and my preference changes though.

I have two 'girls' - one with a Elcan Spector DR 1.5 - 6x and the other sports an Aimpoint T-2 (with a LaRue mount).

Both of these optics sit on Manticore Overwatch rails (the Elcan on a full length and the Aimpoint on a medium) - just good karma ....

Excellent points. While a lot of training expects you to have good shoulder position, there may be situations where perfect posture is not possible. I have scopes on a couple of my rifles and rds on others, all about using the right tool for the job.
If that's what you need then go for it. I will say that the ar536 is pretty bulky and probably going into the parts drawer pretty soon.

Interesting - for the mod prone portion of the ORA CQB CoF, I just accept a less than perfect field of view and shoot. Works well for me. Even when the SR CofF had u dropping into mod prone on each exposure, my 1.5-5x optic worked fine for me. Never felt slowed down personally.

Everybody is different so as long as folks find a solution that works for them, it's all good.

Exactly this. Find what works for you and get good with it. Eyes, positioning, welds...everyone is different.

Like I said, I worked but it wasn't as comfortable, I suppose if I sacrificed the FOV and just got it somewhere that I could see the target and the center of the crosshair it wouldn't have been as bad. Luckily we weren't really rushed when we did the mod prone drills.

I couldn't stop laughing on day two when I switched to my 16 inch with the 1-4 on it. That JP brake I bought for it would throw dirt everywhere and I was getting a dirt shower after every shot :p
