Need a shot timer.

Just download a free app on your phone. Cheaper this way.
Until you drop your "timer"on the range floor. ;)
Then the $119 RU Ready is an awful lot cheaper than your $600+ smartphone...

OP: My recommendation on a timer:

I've got the Max / Saul watch and two other CEDs; I've got a Big-ass PACT that can double as a chrono too.
95% of the time, I've got my little Yellow RU Ready on my belt. Can't beat the KISS principle, I guess.

Any timer with a adjustable sensitivity will work just fine.

Handguns aren't too bad, but the RU Ready Speed Timer 3000 seems to struggle somewhat with rimfire long guns. I was wondering if there were more 'sensitive' timers that might work better.

The Shotmaxx timer is sensitive enough to pick up even an air soft gun. The CED 7000 has adjustable, menu driven sensitivity as well as a filter to help eliminate echoes.

I don't want to put down the RU Ready timer as they work fine for their intended application but really a timer needs to have an external adjustable sensitivity so you can pick up quieter guns and eliminate echoes on louder ones. The DAA Shotmaxx and all CED timers have that feature as well as a filter to help with echoes (usually a problem inside).

Thanks!

The Sensitivity dial is to the left of the belt clip on the back of the RU Ready timer.

RTFM. There is a hole to access the adjustment on the circuit board for the mic! It is a screw you adjust with a screw driver through a hole in the case. Thanks for the tip.

The CED and Shotmaxx timers are electronic adjustments driven through their menus. They also have a filter for helping to eliminate echoes.

i have experience wwith both ru ready and ced7000 at a "club level"..... frankly after BOTH ruready went tits up after only 1.5 yrs of use and the year it took to get warrenty work done i would never buy another.(this was in 2008).

we replaced the ru readys with ced 7000's and they have been great, YES back then there was a micro switch issue for the buttons on top of the unit going tits up after over zealous pressing, but warrenty repair was always honoured and turn around canada-->>usa-->>canada was always less then 30 days.

the last few years ced seems to have fixed the microswitch issue on the 7000s and frankly for club use the 7000RF model with bigboard is AWESOME.... i own 2x7000's for personal use and love them, ced is great and the 7000 has many accesories. adjustment for sensitivity is easy and sure.
