Just watched a video on using the Lee Deluxe Case Trimmer. Looks pretty slick! I like the fact that it trims and chamfers inside and out in one operation.

Anybody got experience with one? If so, where did you get it?

Works just fine. I think I got it at x-reload: LEE-90437. Available at Cabelas too: 99247. Higginsons has them too. You need to purchase the die of the casing you want to trim as well. I caliper all my rifle brass after cleaning and neck sizing, then trim the ones that are getting a bit long.

I recently bought the deluxe cutting head and used it on 223 (yes I removed the ball bearing) and didn't like how it chamfered the cases. I switched back to the non deluxe and just chamfer normally.

That's the sort of feedback I'm looking for. What was it about the chamfering that you didn't like?

I have a couple of bench mounted trimmers now (Lyman and Forster) but I've ordered 200 new 45-70 cases and that's a lot of hand cranking. As far as the chamfering goes, I've got the RCBS 5 position case prep machine, so I really don't need the all-in-one Lee for that, even though it would save a lot of steps.

If I recall the value quick trim version doesn't include the inside/outside chamfer blades so will only trim to length, I use the deluxe one with the drill attachment and it works just fine,
make sure to clean the brass shavings from the inside of the die, I would say every 50 to 100 cases so they wont get stuck in the die and bind the chamfer blades

If you watch some YouTube videos you"ll see one guy who replaces the 3/8" ball with a 1/4" airsoft pellet.
He says it does a better job chamfering and deburring his 300blk cases.

it didn't cut deep enough for my liking and compared to a lyman tool i have. it's more then enough to get by for general plinking ammo but it just wasn't i was expecting.

i ordered the deluxe cutter upgrade for my value trimmer.
What "ball" are we talking about? 'Splain, s'il vous plait .....

for smaller necked cases like 22 cal i believe up to 25cal or 30cal there is a 3/8" ball bearing that is removed so the chamfer cutter doesn't get pushed down as much into the case. for 30cal and up you keep the ball bearing inside it.

Many thanks for the civil response! I'm going to get the power attachment for my Lyman Universal trimmer. I may get a Lee as well and see how they compare.

I have two of the Lee Deluxe Trimmers - hand crank type and electric drill type. I also have about 20 Lee Trim Dies. The whole system is truly excellent - cases are very consistent. Highly recommended!
