I know, I know. I'm a heretic, an infidel despoiler. But you know what? I like it better this way. Sure, I know Colt sent it out from the shop and it wasn't all shiny. But it just didn't have that certain bling to it that I wanted. It did however have a few scratches, and other assorted blemishes on it, all minor, but enough to convince me that having it polished was going to be an improvement. So, I sent it to a certain Mr. Jellybean, after seeing some work he did on his Anaconda, and he was kind enough to give it the treatment. Internally as well as externally, I might add. He did a magnificent job of smoothing that trigger out. I was hoping to include a range report on it, but time does not permit range sessions currently. Anyway, my photographic skills and equipment are sub par, as you will have noticed. Nevertheless. This KC is a real beauty in person now, and I love the Bling factor. And don't worry, I won't try and sell it as a factory Colt BSTS gun. In fact, I won't be selling it at all. It's my gun, and I can do what I want to.

I have a colt king cobra like that, a real pain to clean the carbon off stainless. I also have a b-square barrel sleeve scope mount and it left marks on the barrel.

I have a really nice blue KC as well, they are really hard to get. And yes Johnny, it does look so nice! As far as cleaning carbon deposit off stainless, I used to sweat and curse and brush like a mad man to keep mine shiny, but then I discovered the awesome power of an Ultrasonic cleaner, full of varsol. Put it in their for a half hour with heat, and that thing looks like it has never been shot! Run some patches and brushes of Hoppes #9 down the bore, a bit of brushing on the forcing cone and cylinder face, and all is good with the world. Worth every penny to get one of those cleaners! Thanks again JellyBean, I couldn't be happier with it.

Edit: Figured since I was at it, I'd take a family picture of my Snake Pit. 5 blue Pythons, an unfired Nickel, BSTS, Anaconda with Hunter package, blue and SS King Cobra...and threw my Trooper Mk III in there for good measure, even though it isn't snakey.......

Had a colt officers model 22LR. It was nothing special as far as I could tell. Will stick with my Smiths thanks.

Oh, don't kid yourself. My Smith's outnumber my Colts about 3 to 1.....I love those too! I have a couple Police Positive and Official Police Colts as well, in .22 and .38, and they are a working gun for sure. The trigger is not comparable to a good Smith. A good Smith however, isn't comparable to a Python any way you slice it.

Hmmmmm........ wish I knew some one with one that I could try! Smiths are pretty darn good. Hard to imagine anything better.

If you are ever in GP, I'll let you try my Custom Shop Python, next to my best Model 27 that Murray smoothed out. And my Model 19 for that matter. They are all great, but the Python....phew.

Thanks! GP is a little out of my way, I'm in YC. I have two custom tuned 19s. Hard to imagine anything finer, but then again.

I love my 19s, and actually have a couple 66s as well. Primarily I shoot a tuned 66 (that Lyle1 up there sold me actually), it's easier to keep clean, but I have a bad habit of thinking of it as a 19. He also sold me that 5" Model 27 that is so nice to shoot as a matter of fact. I see an unhealthy trend there.... They are fine guns, and actually fit my hand better than the Colts to be honest. Kind of like the grip angle of a Sig works for me, but a Glock not at all....But, I do love my Colts.....

Is it? Every time I finish a trip to the range with my 1911 the muzzle looks like I went open carry in a coal mine but most everything just wipes off.
