Can't seem to find it in a couple of firearms glossaries. What is the correct spelling? Where does the term come from? Any links or other info about the term is appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :)

Although frequently misspelled "Knox", the historically correct term is actually "Nock's form".

This is from a description of all steps in the production of a Martini-Henry military rifle in the "Gunmaking" treatise in an 1890 edition of The Encyclopaedia Britannica:

The feature was purportedly a development of the prominent 18th Century British gunmaker Henry Nock .... http://www.acant.org.au/Articles/NocksForm.html

Marsi cho! Another mystery of the firearms world given some light. I have always hesitated to use the term, not knowing from whence it came. :)

.... and you will remain forever in ignorance, with such an attitude ....

Change it back, or disable auto correct!

Boy! Do you ever have that right. Aside from the lousy spelling I put up for Nock's, it is disheartening to see all the "auto corrected" gibberish on here.

Thanks again for your positive input.:)
