Can't seem to find it in a couple of firearms glossaries. What is the correct spelling? Where does the term come from? Any links or other info about the term is appreciated.
Although frequently misspelled "Knox", the historically correct term is actually "Nock's form".
This is from a description of all steps in the production of a Martini-Henry military rifle in the "Gunmaking" treatise in an 1890 edition of The Encyclopaedia Britannica:
Boy! Do you ever have that right. Aside from the lousy spelling I put up for Nock's, it is disheartening to see all the "auto corrected" gibberish on here.
