Fudd Pride

A fudd is anyone who owns a gun that is used to hunt, doesn't want any other guns, and doesn't think anyone else should have anything but a hunting gun. Fudds are useless to the hobby because they will not stand together with the rest of us to try and keep the limited rights we have left. They are no better to us than Liberal politicians.

Yup

Well my mistake it seems, all this time I've assumed Fudd was directed at non-black gun enthusiasts/hunters.
Honest mistake, being as any(every?)time I've ever seen the term used,it's to the best of my memory been used by a black gun enthusiast in describing a hunter?
A previous post asked for a recent example.......Fudd was used multiple times(6-8x at least?)in the 480 post Beiwulf .50 thread this week, sorry but I have neither the time nor energy to search and read that entire thread again, but if I'm not mistaken,it was used by one of the very same members that have responded here?
And again,I do in fact own a cpl baby killer, semi auto, battle platform, assault rifles or whatever the proper term for them is these days, albeit of the non-restricted flavor.Actually I find it kinda ironic and at the same time more then a bit disturbing that according to the MSM,I own "assault rifles",but if the same rifle is mounted in a police cruiser it is now a "patrol carbine"....WTF is up wit dat??Nevermind....rhetorical question,I'm well aware of how the Leftard media operates on full time spin cycle.
Thx for the offer, yes I'm in CGY and would love to play 3-gun,it looks like a blast(obvious pun intended)....unfortunately my casual interest in 3-gun is overwhelmingly trumped by my complete and commited lack of interest in jumping thru yet more legal hoops and inviting even further government intrusion into my bedroom for the sake of obtaining an RPAL.Perhaps if the govt came to their senses and would allow me to pack a sidearm while flyfishing in grizzly country I might feel differently?

At the end of the day, again,my mistake,in light of my new understanding of the definition of a Fudd,it would appear I'm not a Fudd after all, just a guy that likes and owns guns....lots of guns....all types of guns....practical guns, fun guns, precision guns,HD and battle guns....but if I had to pigeon hole myself,I'd guess I'd say I identify myself more so as a hunter then an operator.....that said, when the SHTF,with 40+ years of avid hunting of both predators and prey under my belt,I've learned a thing or two about shooting straight, shooting fast, survival, evade and escape, and hiding in plain sight.....jest sayn. ;)

No worries bro. Fudd is an attitude, and a very destructive one to our community. It doesn't matter what firearms you personally own/prefer, or even the particular reasons you have for owning certain firearms.
A Fudd will tell you that your semi auto rifle (or any non traditional hunting type rifle) or handgun is useless or dangerous and you shouldn't have it, they are a particular breed of anti-gun. I have a hard time even considering them firearm owners, as they are not actually pro gun. As long as they can have their rifle or two to hunt with, they will sell every other firearm owner out shamelessly, as long as they get to continue doing what they like to do. A gun is merely a tool they need to pursue their particular interest or occupation, it means nothing to them otherwise (typically).
You ain't a Fudd, anyone who calls you one is just being stupid and you should ignore them.

A fudd could be a range guy with handguns/black rifles that doesn't hunt and would happily see hunting banned as long as he gets to keep shooting his restricteds at approved ranges.

Or a 12.x'er who is happy to belong to a special club that no one else can get into.
Or an LEO or military type that thinks guns are only for the police and military.

Hmmmm, now ya see this^^ is what I've always assumed it meant?

...and I guess I've never considered that Fudd could apply equally to this.^^
Now if you'll excuse me,I must continue my online shopping for parts to Bubba an Enfield and tacticool an SKS,lol. :D

To grinrgrn-it sure doesn't seem to me that you are a fudd. I own all types of guns, although black rifles and handguns are my favourites. I have hunted big and small game in the past, although I no longer hunt. Not for any principal based reason, I just would rather collect and shoot paper at this point in my life. In saying this, the true fudds do exist. A few years ago, we had an idiot here in Newfoundland that wanted all handguns (or as he would say, anguns) banned because he had a nephew killed in Toronto by gunfire related to gang violence. He said on many occasions that people should be able to own hunting firearms, and he said many a time that he was a hunter, but all handguns should be banned. This is the essence of a fudd. And I might add, the essence of an idiot.

The order a government takes to achieve disarmament is clear. The Fudd and his hunting gun are last man standing before everything is banned, and he knows this. That's is the essence of fuddism. He doesn't care because he knows his guns are safe...for now. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a pistol or black rifle who legitimately didn't care if bolt action rifles were banned. As far as LEO types not wanting civilians to own guns, that is a dominance / power issue, not fuddism.

Yup!

I hunt, and I have semi-auto hunting rifles (bolt guns just aren't my style) and "black rifles".

A Fudd is a gun owner who does not stand shoulder-to-shoulder with their fellow gun owner brothers and sisters. They couldn't care less about the property rights of non-hunting gun owners and spew about as much anti-gun rhetoric as the anti-gun crowd. ("handguns only exist to kill people". "no one needs a semi-auto". "black guns are evil")

I don't have an issue with people with more tradition outlooks and uses for firearms, I do have an issue with someone not standing up for the whole community when there is someone pushing back.

I'd rather live in a country where all have guns than a country where the evil had guns and the law abiding owners were targeted and harassed.

Most of the original post is irrelevant to the concept of FUDD. FUDDness is about ideology, not particular guns, actions, style or how many animals have been slayn. I've defined FUDD in another thread and the OP is likely correct when he says the majority of gun owners in Canada are FUDDs.

We're all in this together. We are stronger when there are more of us rather than fewer.

Now is the time to urge those people you've taken out shooting, to go out and get their PAL.

Awesome rant. Hope you got that off your chest, and feel better. Had a smaller post myself, someone pointed out that i had a classical taste in firearms. Different from the "F" word.

IMO, threads that bring up the "F" word are useful in that they point out the behavior we all detest. Sometimes guys with classical tastes are called the "F" word in a overreaction, but if it highlights the behavior we want changed....hey i have thick skin.

I love classical guns too. In fact some of mine are 142 years old. But people need to know the correct definition of the term FUDD. You aren't a fudd if you detest certain firearms. you are a fudd if you're willing to see those firearms you detest get smelted in order to save your own, doesn't matter if they are classic, handguns, or black modern.

Well my mistake it seems, all this time I've assumed Fudd was directed at non-black gun enthusiasts/hunters.

So then you will retract all the really nasty things you posted about the younger black rifle enthusiasts?

You had enough time to start a big fight on CGN but not enough time to back up your assertion that "every time" you have heard the term Fudd used it was to denigrate a hunter? Nice!

I've been on this board well over ten years and have NEVER heard the term Fudd used to denigrate someone who has no interest in black guns but supports the right of others to own and use black guns. The problem is that lots of hunters are happy to proclaim that black rifles should be banned and so they rightly get called a Fudd.

The irony of this being that you find yourself lumped in with the very group that the Fudds would happily sacrifice in order to keep their huntin' rifles.

I have a problem with people who have a problem with my choice of firearms or accessories that I own.

If you don't have any single whatsoever problem with any of the firearms or accessories I own or how I use them, or play dress up, then my friend carry on.

This is logical. I feel the same way. Simple, right?
