Looks pretty typical of the Alberta foothills to me too. We have land west of Millarville and we get bulls on there with that exact look, also used to live in Grande Cache for awhile and same moose there.
I'm suspicious of all the classifications of moose, Shiras in particular, I have trouble believing that any in Canada are truly Shiras- or that the term Shiras even means much in Canada. Everything is a spectrum, with blurred borders, so while I believe there are Shiras-pattern moose I also find it dubious any "purebred" examples have existed in Canada for a long time, if ever. Quite a fight amongst the outfitters over the Shiras classification, as everyone wants to call their moose Shiras. If you have "Canada" moose with a slightly Shiras shape in southern BC or southwestern Alberta, and fall inside the bubble permitted, you can charge a bunch more. Moose populations mix and meld in sizes, and some have come out of Ontario that blow my mind despite watching Yukon / BC border moose at work all the time. Pockets of bigger moose exist smack in the middle of smaller populations, Shiras looking Moose can be found around Prince George, and brutes in the Alberta foothills. I think we're just viewing nature's mixed bag, rather than any specific delineations.
