Hey guys, I went to my local firearm store today and I was looking at a Mossberg MVP light cassis .223. It looks bad ass. The whole chassis is aluminium, spiral bolt, fluted barrel, muzzle break and it has a AR stock, grip and takes .223 ar mags. I really want to purchase this rifle! I am not familiar with any Mossberg rifles, only shotguns. I heard that they are very accurate. The owner said he would get me a combo price for the rifle plus a Bushnell 4.5-18 AR .223 optic and some rings. I'm thinking it will come out to $1600-1700 bucks. Anyway, I would like the hear some feedback from people who own or shot one of these rifles, and if you could post some pictures of groups, that would be awesome.

If i were spending $1700 on a rifle that i wanted to get into precision/long range shooting with it would not be that one.

If you want a rifle that looks cool then go for it.

It's a MDT LSS chassis. You could choose your barreled action if you like the look.

I shoot with a guy who has a Mossberg MVP Patrol .308 in an LSS chassis. The bolt is a little rough and sloppy but no worse than an SPS 700. It smooths out with time. Trigger ain't bad at all, more like a Savage accutrigger. And anyone claiming they don't shoot are simply uninformed. I've personally watched Ravage work up handloads and turn in consistent sub moa 5 shot groups at 100 with Nosler 168 match pills and Barnes TTSX 168s. If you run AR mags, do yourself a favour and shorten the mag springs a little. You don't need nearly as much spring tension as a semiauto and it will greatly smooth out feeding.

Yeah, I tried dry firing it, it's just like the accutrigger.

I have the Mossy MVP with the bench rest stock. I was sort of unimpressed at first, but after 100 rounds or so the rifle has settled down and it is capable of this kind of accuracy with only semi-tuned loads and a cheap optic.

I have just put a Millet scope on it and have not yet sighted it in. (tomorrow with any luck)
I will also be firing some of my 68 gr. BTSP loads. They group very well with my Schmeisser AR15

I think Mossberg should just stick to making pump shotguns! ...how did the 'night train' work out for them?

for $1700 you could custom build a pretty decent 'paper puncher'.

I just wanted this rifle cause it looks bad ass, but I didn't know it would shoot groups like that at 600 yards. I'm very impressed. Could you share your loading data if you don't mind? Furthest shots I take are 400-450 yards, I could probably nail a coyote in the head at that range with the Mossberg MVP LC.
