Mossberg MVP LC

I seen this rifle today at our local Canadian Tire store...
I fell in love with the way it looks...but thought I'd google it first to see what's what about it.
Glad I did, as CT is selling it with the Vortex scope for $2199.99 plus gst, while I found another price, same scope, for quite a bit less money. (And this is why I signed up to this forum!)
I haven't been around guns for awhile, but am looking to get back into them again.
Thought this would make a nice starter rifle.

I used to have the .223 benchrest model with a cheap nikon 3-9x40 BCD on it. I wouid have a hard time agreeing that it was 1/2 MOA all day but for the most part it stayed just under MOA. I loaded up some SMK 69gr BTHP and I was hitting my 6" steel at 500 metres all day long. It eventually got boring. Once I knew where to hold I would hit it pretty much every time. Only reasonI sold it is .223 gets pretty useless after 600m. So yes, it's definitely worth the 7-800$ price tag but I'd be pretty hard pressed to put 1700$ on the table for one of these for the look cool factor. Pick up a Rem 700 or a Savage for 8-900$ and throw an LSS on there for better results.

Was in Cabela's in Calgary on Wednesday.
Talked with Mark G. about the Berg MVP LC...
He grabbed one off the rack, and asked me if I had ever handled one.
I said no.
He handed it over to me, and said, "go ahead, and pull the lever back for me"
I did...fumbling with it, like it was the first time I had ever handled a rifle...it was tight, sticky, hard to pull back, and just made me feel like a complete idiot.
He then said to put it back.
And I did...with the same rediculous effort.
He then asked me: "what do you think?"

I replied that the action was very notchy, sticky, or just plan bad....

Then he grabbed a Tikka off the rack, turns to me, so I could see him holding the rifle straight up and down...and with one finger, pulled the lever arm up, and then let it go.

The whole lever slide all the way back under its own weight!
Super smooth.

I changed my mind about the Mossberg right then and there.

I posted in another thread about sighting an MVP in for a friend. Stated the accuracy surprised me, was pretty good.

Would I purchase one ? Not a damn chance.
