43B Hunt last week. Never experienced a true Rut hunt like this year, every doe had a buck or two right behind it. Only hunted one day, plus 1.5hrs second day, before filling my tag. (we don't party hunt at our property) Seen 22 deer, all does being run by bucks. Shot this 10 pointer running in like a hound on a fresh track, nose to the ground, following my foot steps to my stand. Scent drags work.

This was the pole by Wed morning.

i've got to be hunting in the wrong spot.

i have know where and nobody to hunt with :'(
So what you going to do about it for next year. You live in a great area for deer and turkeys.within one hour of you.I and many others here hunt alone. So go out find some crown land conservation land or knock on a few farm doors .it does take some leg work .but today anyone should be able yo fond a spot to hunt and at least get a chance at a deer. . My girls and I are ready for Monday .late season shotgun hunt .always enjoy this time of year in the bush with the kids .looks like deer numbers are down but we do have some farms with good numbers.lets hope the rain holds off as things are very muddy right now. A real good freeze is what we need. Good luck to all the folks heading out in southern Ontario be safe . Dutch

SKUNKED!!! For the first time in a long time, we were skunked in WMU56! We had the first week with that wacky warm weather, and there wasn't a deer anywhere near us. It wasn't just us, from what I've heard that was endemic to the whole area. Nobody saw anything, let alone getting off a shot. Of course on Sat. night before we had to leave, 4 deer are grazing on the lawn at night. We hunted the Sun. morning, hope against hope, and saw SFA. We got a few days on the second week. My brother blew a chance at a nice big deer. I saw a buck, and a nice one (8-10 point) but there was too much intervening scrub to get a clean shot. If the buck went left, he'd leave my sight line down a hill, if he straight or right, I had him. Sure enough, he just ambled away to the left and down the hill. My buddy did a push, but due to a miscommunication regarding the area, I wasn't where I would have preferred to be. I saw 3 deer, a buck and 2 does, but just flickering between the trees and once again, there was no chance at a shot. The law of averages say that getting skunked is a statistical probability and I guess it was just our turn. Ah well, there's always next year. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative as the first Monday of November is actually the second week. To those of you who got lucky, my congratulations (and a little envy).

Looks like a moose rub unless the buck is running that sapling over
I do moose hunt that area, but this year, there was not a single moose to be found, not even a track. Oh and BTW I have been hunting for more than 40 years, I can tell the difference. Yes, a deer would, have to be big and strong enough to bend over that tree to make that rub. If you look behind, you can see he has started working a larger tree as well. This is a small area where for some reason the deer make rubs every year. Several trails cross near there, but not right there. It might be a territorial boundary, but the reason for the division escapes me.
