SKS Test! Tula or Izhevsk?

Thank you everyone for expressing your support, sharing your knowledge and opinions, and for following this with me. I have come to realize through this little problem that there are a heck of a lot of genuinely great people here on CGN. Even though I am disappointed that I didn't get a 1953 Izhevsk :( the CGN community here has more than made up for it! :) (Although, I still want a 53 Izzy!! ;) )

P.S. phins13, lol, me too, had to laugh!

I remember that fine rifle! I bought it n had a heck of a time trying to get them to allow its return,, and with them still insisting its a Russian spike bayo.

When did that happen? It sounds like an interesting experience to say the least.

Reading all those reviews about this westrifler dealer makes me think it's deliberate what they are doing. Sucking in less experienced shooters to sell their crap at high prices. Why would anybody buy from them?

It might be an honest mistake that they are reluctant to fix (ie. rifles sorted by cover date and arsenal without further inspection, perhaps), but they should take it back and either refund you or find you another.

Westrifle should be inspecting EVERY rifle they bring in. I've heard them appoint themselves as being at the forefront of SKS importing with hands on, personal individual rifle selection overseas.

Although when handling customer service issues on CGN in the past, they have been like a bull in a China shop. Messy and stubborn.
Since putting their foot in their mouths regarding a few of the last few incidents, I've noticed them distancing themselves quite a bit from posting/commenting on this forum.

Unfortunately it only took once for me to learn the hard way. My bore looked like it was still packed full of mud from the eastern front.

Not chitting on the seller particularly but come on guys - mismatching the cover to the carbine - c'mon man.

Deal with Corwin Arms if you want guys that know their milsurp. Good guys all around.

The force-maching was performed at the arsenal, I am sure. WR should have caught it, but they didn't DO it, in case anyone was thinking that.

there as been lots of people that have had the same experience with west rifle .They try to sell medeiocer product at a premium and wont admit it ontil they sell to a buyer who knows they have been had and confronts them with the issue. Not good business

, because it is a unique SKS because of the odd referb. I am not going to keep this sks given what has transpired.

a) it's not "odd refurb", it is regular refurb as mixing parts to any extent is normal for refurbs.
b) when you look at the gun in person pay attention to the fonts, in your example you can see totally different font used on cover, and sometimes cover wont' have any markings but is not original to the rifle
c) if it doesn't work with seller, then sell the rifle and write down the difference to education and gaining experience, they will save you money in the future
