Ruger Precision Rifle

Did you go in to the store because the site says out of stock on all calibers

I was in the store on Saturday (I did get to shoulder a .243 RPR) however the only one they had available was broken. It had somehow been damaged by the new owner.
I wish I had paid more attention, but no one really new what had happened; only that the bolt handle had somehow become separated from the rifle and not in a good way (leaving some pieces behind to sort out?, possibly broken pieces where the bolt handle inserts into the rifle/bolt, but I really can't be sure).

Sorry I can't give you all better info., but they were waiting to get it to a smith for repair... it was a .243 and I was told all others were pre-sold.

What I would like to know and excuse my ignorance of this rifle, but is it possible to mount a 12.5" to 16" barrel (AR-10 Barrel) on the .308 model w/o issue (I do recognize something would need be done to the gas port).

I'd like to set it up something like the Mossberg MVP LC rifle (but in .308), yet with better quality action/accuracy. Not looking to reach out past 500yds., just want a compact/relatively lightweight (most likely change the rear stock) and capable (accuracy/dependability wise) rifle that runs a pistol grip and 10Rd.mag.'s that's B/A.

Sorry for getting off topic.

Cheers D

I heard trying to fold the stock with the bolt open can get you into trouble....?

I was in GR yesterday to look at the PRS... sorry, to hear you were the "lucky" customer.

Hope it gets fixed.

FYI, tooling is being worked on but next year, I will be able to offer prefits for these rifles.

Eventually, more handguard to barrel nut adaptors will hit the scene as AR rail manf get on board.

Should be a lot of fun to plink with.

No the bolt lugs on the two rifles are completely different. There are many companies down south offering ready to go barrels you could spec at any length if you wanted to go that way however

No I wasn't the purchaser of this .243 RPR, just a GR customer checking it out. I was keen to handle one in person and did, but the only one they had had somehow been damaged by the new customer; the bolt handle was separated from the rifle as if something had been broken, but like I stated earlier I really didn't give it a thorough enough examination as to as ascertain what exactly had happened to it.

Just wanted to clarify that, now please continue with your regularly programmed show.

So, I got mine in 308 Win today and first I noticed that the mags were 223 AccuMags, not sure what's up with that..... also, the safety switch on mine is flimsy as hell. It wobbles around in there and seems hard to switch from safe to fire. Am I the only one with that issue?

I saw a couple youtube reviews that said the safety is flimsy. You can swap one out for a price. But the guy reviewing it said it wasn't too big of a deal. Real Shooter is the guy. He has a couple RPR videos. Sniper's hide (on youtube) did one up with full upgrades. But once you start going full upgrades, might as well have ponied up for a surgeon or something in the first place.

I'm thinking packaging mistake....mine say 308 on them and my safety does not wobble.

Its a mass produced factory rifle and it will be a hit and miss with these. Some seem ok and other have flaws. Just like most things in life, you get what you pay for. If a guy breaks a bolt handle checking it out in the store, that doesn't instill a lot of confidence in it's reliability. There seems to be just as many threads about upgrades, modifications etc.

So, the safety just feels like it's not a snug fit, almost too "small" for the insert its in. Any suggestions as to what I could do, or buy to fix this? Or should I contact the retailer to look at this? Any thoughts?

Contact Korth group. They are aware if the problem and are telling retailers to have customers cintact them about the problem.

If i was at work id give the number. Call your retailer and they should be able to get you the number.
