Thanks for the link. It seems like infrared signature management is a property of the Gen II Cerakote regardless of colour though. Their graphite black is just as undetectable as their FDE.

Generally black is not good for night vision. Looks like Cerakote developed a black that is works, but it's purposely designed to do that. Mid range browns generally are a lot better in this respect, regardless of the type of coating.
Plus, browns are found in all environments, from forest, to city, to jungle, to desert.

Two lowers and one of each upper are on my list to spend my tour money on. I've said before that our house would be a CC house and now is the time. Even the wife is on board and is looking forward to a new carbine (hence the two lowers).
