Has anyone had difficulty finding a lower that can be fitted to an IUR?

So far I have tried two stripped lowers. One an Aero lower and the other a Blue Line lower. Both of these lowers fit other uppers but will not mate with the IUR. It appears that the hole in the IUR rear takedown pin lug is a few thousandths higher than the matching holes in the lowers. The result is that the rear takedown pin can't be inserted.

Kinda reluctant to buy a 3rd lower. Could the IUR be out-of-spec?

I know in my complete IUR rifle, it came super super super tight. I had to use punches and a brass hammer to disassemble and reassembled for first 5 openings. Now I have to hold the upper against the lower and push down on the accu-wedge to get the rear pin in. It's an extremely tight fitting match.

Possible...I have an IUR and it mates fine with a Colt M4A1 lower I have and also with a Spikes Tactical Punisher lower I just picked up (both from IRG). I could try it on other brand lowers I have but I don't think there is an issue with it. With that said I have had a Blue Line lower in the past and it was out of spec and returned. I've never seen an Aero lower be out spec though...

Maybe take it to a local gun shop and see if it'll mate to any of their lowers? (since it's an unregulated part)...if it does you'll know the two lowers you bought were the problem (bad luck). If not, then it's the IUR (another bad luck...but can be sent back I'm sure).

That's what Accuwedges do they put pressure on the upper. In fact, in my opinion that is all they do. They should just be called wedges.

I think I'm going to ask the vendor for some advice and also this weekend try the upper with the lowers from some of my friends' ARs.

It could just be the tight fit/spec of the upper - the pin hole misalignment is so close.

If I have to spring for another lower, this value-oriented IUR purchase is going to turn into an expensive rifle.

Jesus what's an IUR? Some kind of sh@tty new NEA rifle? Mil spec is mil spec right?

Colt Canada IUR, made from Canadian Milspec (100+ improvements over US milspec).
Just because they are both made in Ontario, doesn't mean they are both ####. One is actually an international military supplier, that supplies first world militaries. While the other one.... Well you already know.

Spoke to the vendor who suggests that the issue might be that the lowers I have tried are not milspec. Will be trying the IUR with some other lowers to see what fits. Maybe I've just had bad luck so far.

In the meantime...anyone see any deals on milspec stripped lowers? Spikes, DD, Andersen, Wyndham, NEA mentioned so far as fitting.

I thought Aero was milspec? Anyways, fwiw, my LMT MRP upper was also super tight in my Stag lower. Both are also milspec. I had to have my wife squeeze the upper/lower together while I tap in the takedown pin with a punch. I'm sure you could do the same. Doesn't damage the rifle.

Or, as another has suggested, take your upper to a buddy's house and try it on their lower. If you get the same result, then it maybe an out of spec IUR. Any manufacturer can make mistakes, even Colt Canada.

colt canada iur probably one of the best upper/barrel combinations out there right now for the price.
I know. I just snapped one up on the EE as a complete rifle for cheaper than just about anything else worth naming. You can barely buy an equivalent barrel (and probably won't be able to until the loonie recovers) for less.

My point was that if this was an NEA upper or lower not fitting we'd have the ABN crowd baying for blood.
