Love the shorter Hunter model
KMKIII45H and 2 kMKIII45HEB

post a pic if you have a chance. I always like to see what we got in Canada

I bought my MKIII Hunter at the end of November and it has quickly become one of my favourites. (I can't say it is my favourite because then my Dan Wessons may get a little jelly).

Here is where I am thus far with this pistol - and I don't plan on anything else except lots of shooting:

MKIII Hunter
MKII VQ Accurizing Kit - hammer, sear, trigger, extended mag disconnect, bushing (bye bye mag safety), and spring.
William's Fire Sights rear sights. I may try the William's front sights if I can't stop this Ruger one from coming loose.
Custom grips from 1911grip guy. These are his Slash and Burn grips for the MKIII but I had him make them +0.3 to better fit my large mitts and now they fit perfect.

oldporters - are those gold triggers factory? If not, what are they and where did you get them?

They are gold anodized triggers that came with this specific model. KMKIII45HEB. It was a distributor exclusive model for Ellett Brothers 75th year anniversary special run . 749 was made according to the ruger collector association forum. And somehow I luck boxed my way into 2 of them. It also came with red aluminum pistol grips

That's interesting. Do you have a pic with the aluminum grips? I have my VQ trigger with no creep, short reset, and breaking at 1.25 lbs. Often when I let someone try the pistol I have a hard time getting it back from them. :)

How difficult and costly was the trigger change?

I just replied to your PM before seeing this post - but I bought the VQ Accurizing kit from Sylvestre Sports in Alberta (they are a CGN sponsor) for $169 plus shipping. From what I have heard, the VQ trigger and sear are worth it, the hammer is almost redundant, but the hammer bushing with mag disconnect is what every MKIII needs - so I just bought the whole kit instead of the individual parts.

Install wasn't too bad as there are some great videos out there. The hardest part was getting the mainspring housing pulled out and then the barrel off on my new Ruger - which will loosen up over time. I have since bought the All-in-One tool from Brownells and that really helps take the mainspring pin out and back in.
