The new Canadian Ranger rifle would do it for me. Nothing more Canadian than a thinly spread out force of reservists who guard our countries' territory while using their issued rifles to live off the land. I like the concept and I like the rifle. And it will be mostly made in Canada, with imported technology and international business connections, just like a lot of us Canadians. Chambered in a NATO standard service cartridge which is also a standard and effective big game cartridge in civilian form. I even like the garish laminated red stained stock. So call it the Ranger rifle. I want one.

the action would be any action the reliably fed the round ...... the stock would be preferably one that uses flip flips for recoil pads .

Cartridge is the 366 Wagner, the rifle is the BUM Ungulate Masher. It's based off the Remington 740 with a synthetic stock and Weaver See-thru rings. SuperCub sighting system is included... 3.5-10x50mm Weaver.

You could swap barrels, or swap actions, so it would be suitable for bush, or prairie, You can swap stocks so it can be pretty, or stable, scoped, or not.
Removable box magazines fit any of the action types, and can be legal 5 rounds for actions requiring that, or larger for actions allowing more fun.
Any stock fits any action, so want a pistol grip, thumb hole, or English straight, no problem. Swap out the levers on lever gun actions for pistol grip or straight. Change out to a 12 gauge barrel.
Any barrel fits any action.

You beat me to it Cleft. Could also add a 303 caliber variant to the line up and call it the Model R10.

Once Cooey was taken over by Winchester, the model 84 single shot shotgun became the 840. The "Cooey" plant started producing Model 70, push feeds, but to differentiate them ....they were called Model 71. Might be others.
When it comes to Canada, it is such a vast area and such different hunting terrain. So we need a rifle suited for everything from Blacktails to Polar Bears, from close quarter whitetail and blacktail bush to praire.
Really hard to say ....bolt, lever, pump.....Even harder to see picking a caliber.
But if it is truly a Canadian rifle, put it in something that wont be prohibited. I would add LOL, but its tragic, not funny.
Okay hear me out...
I am Thinking a good solid pump (fast action), with harder hitting flat intermediate caliber, (possibly a lighter .30) medium barrel and large mag fed (for round count). a long rail up top for scopes n dots alike, Mil-spec furniture ready, including pistol grip and a rail on the pump for for Stubbs n slants or lights. Good durable finish for longevity, threaded, maybe peeps or something similar. Ambidextrous safety, ambidextrous mag release and have a nice Canadian badge somewhere to show we're proud.
I'd be all over that.
Or make the AR's into NR lol. But still.....round count

Think about it though, for the time being as awesome AR's would be NR, you would have an even harder time trying to lift mag cap restrictions on semi's especially with the current handlers in the big chairs. A pump would be a great alternative because your mag count would be high, ambidextrous for the most part, better to keep on target and you can sling the rounds out fairly quick with a slick enough setup. It is something I could seriously consider to be a truly Canadian rifle given the circumstances we currently find ourselves in.
