The commercial rifles are non-restricted.
If someone were to shorten a barrel to a length 18 to 18 1/2 inches the rifle would meet the standard for restricted status. Shorten the barrel to under 18" and it becomes prohibited.

What? Um no, you can have barrels as short as you want. As long as it's not a pistol a rifle can have a 4 inch barrel if you wanted it. It will still be restricted. Unless you were talking about chopping the barrel yourself?

Just want to add to the list the SA Socom is 16.5" and that's a restricted other than that all commercial M305/ M14s Norinco, Poly or DA are all non-restricted unless someone change to a barrel shorter than 18.5" (you can not cut any barrel shorter than 18" under current Canadian law).

Yes and chamber specs are closer to 7,62x51 NATO than 308.

I like the Norinco copper washed ammo alot and for good commercial ammo try federal powershock blue box 150 grain . They work well in these.

I've had Nork barrels that spec at 1.629"...... Which is under 308 minimum spec.....most spec out over 1.638, 1 notable 1.648!

The commercially available Nork, Dominion arms etc are all non-restricted. Most SAI models, other than the SAI socom, are non-restricted. The SAI socom is restricted.

Previous posters have clarified the "cut down" lengths. 18" restricted, 18.5" non-restricted.......
