Dogs in need of a home ....updated march16/2016

Nice dogs. As a long time dog owner, I always find the "screening" process that rescue societies tend to gravitate towards to be super annoying. After my last Weimie passed the local rescue annoyed the hell out of me with how they insisted Weimaraner's be babied. Weimaraner's need exercise then they are balanced. They only have issues when they have owners that don't work them.

But that is the issue with most dogs (and people) these days. Not enough exercise.

Can't take another dog but I will be in Seattle next weekend (Feb 4-7) and could bring that GSP back to the LML or southern VI if any one is interested in that dog. PM me.

awesome thread :)

I wish I had the space and time for one of these beauts, had an english springer spaniel growing up. I miss well trained dogs sometimes.

Picking up a started hunting dog with some training is a bonus. Not doing the puppy stage is certainly easier on the household furnishings. We have rescued a few dogs and it has been successful. One possible hookup already judging by the posts. Excellent. Any dog is worthy of rescue but..... having had one rescue who was sworn not to be but was gunshy and turned to be totally paralyzed when I even thought about cleaning my gun. Great dog but leaving him at home during hunting season (he would cower in the truck if there was a gun in it) was a downer. Having said all that, most of our members would be interested in a dog with hunting potential. Not a presumptuous statement, I hope? It is a great idea to keep this thread alive on its own merit. Having hunting type breeds showcased is an excellent proposal IMO. What do other members think?

this guy is the same one in the first post, they are calling him trigger now ...

if anyone is considering him , he is scheduled to be put down on feb 5 .

Meet Trigger! He’s a 2-year-old, very handsome guy! He is 80 lbs of muscle! Like all GSPs, he needs lots of exercise to stay happy and content. He has a very strong prey drive – 2 neighborhood cats with vet bills and a deer! If someone could train him how to use that drive, he might be a great hunter!
Trigger is great with people, and he loves to snuggle – seriously he will crawl into your lap if... you let him! He is an amazing ball fetcher, too.

At the moment he is reactive to dogs. He has separation anxiety so badly that he destroys crates.
Trigger needs to be with someone who is knowledgeable about GSPs AND dog training. We believe his issues could be rehabbed with someone who has the time to work with him.
Trigger is a wonderful dog who has lived with people who don’t have the skills/time/understanding necessary to allow him to become a great canine companion. With the right owner, Trigger would flourish!

to anyone who fosters or adopts this dog , i will sent them 50.00 , i would offer more but i am between jobs right now .

bless your soul OP for doing what you are doing! If I could take another dog, I'd have Bowza flown out here to SE MB. I have two dogs and one is a bad boy (natural to his breed, Staffordshire Bull Terrier), we have to keep them separate or he has to wear a muzzle when together. I pray they all find homes!

As I mentioned earlier, heading to Seattle this morning, back on the 7th if some one wants Wally/Trigger. ifitwags has been notified that transport is available.

so i'll pass along this message ......

"A short term solution has been found. Trigger ( formerly wally) will be turned over to SPDR and moved to a quiet commercial kennel. The behaviorist/trainer will be working with him so that he can be placed in a permanent home. If you are interested Contact: Justin , SPDR breed rep for German Shorthaired Pointers. (please text only) 206 817-0837 Thank you ."

http://www.spdrdogs.org/help/seven_ways.html

so anyone wanting to donate to help him out , could donate to spdr , and make sure it is intended to help "trigger" .

I'll toss in $50. too, for a permanent home!

thank you :)

I was talking to Stephanie from ifitwags last night , she was saying the biggest challenge right now is trying to find a foster home without a dog , so this guy can get the training he needs and undo the damage his previous owner .
thank you very much on your offer , I really hope someone takes you up on it , because it would mean he would have a home .

while out on the bush trails today, I got to thinking, if buddy on death row can not find a home locally, who will offer up a donation to ship buddy to anywhere that a suitable home can be found? I certainly will! How about you? Any other donors? Lets get a fund raiser going, please! Hate to see this awesome pal put down for no good reason! Call in your pledge before it's too late! PLEASE! Someone that can love this guy and give a good home to, we'll help get him to you!
