I have an extra Mosin Nagant nothing special about Ito would like to put a new stock on it and paint it camo. Do you have any ideas or things you have done to give me some ideas. Plan so far is to buy a laminated stock made by Boyd's with a thumb hole stock, timmney trigger, install bent bolt with a flashy knob on the bolt handle, cut the barrel shorter, install muzzle brake, a scope of some kind with a mount of some kind.

A Picatinny rail would be an untried modification on a Mosin.
I think they've already been chromed; and painting...my Little Pony is a good motif for such a stylish project as well.

just a pu , and let's go.

I have several Mosin projects on the go. They include failed stocks, failed bands, failed sights, failed bolts, and failed barrels. When I'm all done, they will look exactly like they did when they came out of the crate.

If you are already starting with a boogered-up "Gatean the basement hacksaw man's Mosin", then do what you will. But chopping a military one is a money-losing proposition every time. It will end up as a $50 buggered-up gun at my LGS or on the bargain table as a "parts rifle" at the gun show.

If you are OK with that financial math, then have at 'er.

You guys are mean. I could just be lame and not post anything fun. Or go around calling people trolls. I will not go on troll patrol. I'm not a bully.

Here's my fun gun. It shot very well as a milsurp so I had to kill some time and make it a project gun.
Boyds Stock with 1" Limbsaver Pad
Timney Trigger
Rock Solid Pillars
Rock Solid Scope Mount
Weld on Bolt Handle
Burris Rings
Bushnell 4x12 Scope

Targets speak for themselves. Left is 300 meters, right is 200 meters with Czech. 147 gr surplus ammo. Still some tuning to do but I'm happy with the result.

That's just beautiful, what did you refinish the stock with? Great looking rifle!

Removing the shellac, little to no sanding, heating the stock with the hair dryer and wiping off the Cosmo, degreasing the wood with the alcohol, wood conditioner, two coats of Red Mahogany 225, 7 coats of Tru Oil with 0000 steel wool buffing between the each coat.

When you put the pillars in do you have to glass bed the rifle? I saw somewhere they say you have to or should not sure why? I would think the pillars just beef up where the screws go.

I did bed around the pillars as there is a small difference in fit from the factory stock inletting. The rear pillar (with cutout for Timney trigger) is a little lean on surrounding wood to give it strength I was comfortable with. Many good YouTube videos on doing my project using rock solid products. Westrifle was great. They carry what you'll need.

Cheers, I have a great shooting 41 round reciever that could use a tasteful stock refinishing.
