223 brass cleaning

Get one of the rotary media separators. They knock the media out of the insides.

If you ever decide to use stainless media, the same separator filled with water can be used.

I use stainless steel wet media, but decap the brass first. Cleans inside and out , plus the primer pockets.

Why would you use cat litter? What does that save you? $5/yr? It's not like the stuff is very expensive at the gun store.
I change out my media once every year or two, I just throw in a used dryer sheet once in a while to absorb the dirt and crud left behind and keep using it. Brass still comes out shiny.

Sorry, don't mean to sound like a jerk but some days it blows my mind how much hassle some people will go through just to save a dollar.




This is how I empty them but not sure how well it will work in your situation

Not cat litter but Zilla ground english walnut shells.
This is used to clean the brass. You then can use a media separator to separate the brass from the media without making a mess.
If you want to polish the brass further you then tumble in corn cob media with a little NuFinish car wax.

If you want to move into the 21st century you put all this eqiupment on a shelf and you purchase a wet tumbler and some stainless steel media and never look back.

If you empty the media from the tumbler, then give just the brass an extra tumble for 20 minutes longer, most of the small pieces will let go from the brass.

Have one of theses and it works well my only complaint is the handle jumps out of the notch at times

I do the same, rarely do I need to touch the primer pockets.

I use ultrasonic on prepped but dirty cases, then I build the ammo which is now covered in lube. Into the vibratory with corn cob and done.

I usually throw my 223 brass in a tumbler with corn cob, the night before. In the morning I have my coffee and when I feel up to it, I'll run down stairs and stop the tumbler. Usually a good 8 hours or so. The brass has never been packed full of media just pours out instantly. Brass is super shiny though!

X2 on wet tumbling. Makes dirty crusty brass like new.

Another for this. Went to ss tumbling and the results are amazing. Just cleaned some pistol range brass yesterday. It has been sitting in the snow and mud for god knows how long. It looked nasty as brass can look but after the ss pins looks like brand new out of the package.

I use a mix of untreated walnut, treated corn cob, and Lyman media polish now....cases come out mirror finished. Not sure it's necessary but they sure look purdy....lol
