I hope you are right. So far, they have been predominantly voting for the parties which want to ban all guns.
And the fact that they are familiar with the guns, does not mean they support the laws allowing to own firearms.
In a similar way, criminals are very familiar with the guns, but obviously they will benefit if only the criminals are allowed to have guns, which would happen automatically if the laws ban firearms ownership.
Entirely not true.
The CPC made strong inroads with various immigrant communities during their term, to the point where they have very much become a "swing" block in many communities.
And there's good reason for this. A lot of recent immigrants are from APAC combloc nations, and deeply distrust big government. The same goes for immigrants from former European combloc nations.
I ran into an older gent at the range a couple years ago - he was eyeing up my CZ 452. Turns out he had worked at Brno back in the day, and he recognized my CZ as an updated Model 2e from halfway across the range. We got to talking a bit, then he went off on an absolute rant (that I was happy to hear) about our silly gun laws. It went along the lines of "Don't people understand? This is how they keep you under their thumb. They take away your ability to fight back."
I've heard/seen similar sentiments from people who've fled various totalitarian regimes. They're among the strongest, and most ardent gun rights supporters we have in this country. And they won't vote Lib or Dip for that reason alone.
