MERGED. Type 81 is on its way to Canada. Classed as RESTRICTED

As much as I hope the rcmp aren't about to play games with us, I'm not holding my breath. They know darn well what classifies a rifle to a certain class and they've made it quite clear they are not happy about it. I won't be the least surprised if they approach the liberal govt with their hands in the air saying "we had to classify this way because of the regulations". Of coarse to prompt the liberals into changing those regulations. I truly hope I'm wrong but with two classifications in two days going in our favour, and all the media hype about certain firearms coming into Canada, one has to question their motive.

I love how we get a good classification and yet nothing but fear mongering.

It is hardly fear mongering to be highly skeptical of the RCMP considering they would happily disarm us if they could.

I know I am not the only one here who finds it highly interesting that a black shotgun would ever have its classification changed from restricted to non restricted voluntarily by them. To the best of my knowledge it has never happened before. Then a mere day later finaly aprove a rifle that has been in purgatory for close to 4 years.

Some here think my tinfoil might be wrapped to tight, but I dont trust the RCMP one effin bit. Nor should anyone on this forum.

As for a good classification. It was the right classification. Not a good one. It could have been made 4 years ago.

If they ever change the AR to NR i think panic will set in and there will be rioting on the streets of every city in Canada

Considering the RCMP already had an FRT entry for a semi auto Type 81 which listed it as prohibited as an AK variant, and that it is now gone from the FRT listings in favour of this non-restricted FRT entry, I'm going to say they aren't playing games with us.

The Akdal and the Type 81 semi, two reclassifications in our favour in a week.

First the ADL 1919 gets reclassified now this... good news but makes me suspicious as to why they are suddenly so active on the FRT's. No doubt the frt #'s have been transferred to the "make sure it gets prohibited list" for future reference by the LIEberals.

They will be going to Mr. Sunny Ways crying that they had NO choice but to approve these "super deadly military assault weapons" because of our out of date classification system . I'm sure the turd will give them card blanch to come up with a new system ( which will be rammed through parliament) to keep these & all other military (style) weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of responsible law abiding Canadian firearms owners

But hey I could be wrong ;)

Makes me really wonder... Either they are setting up something or some changing of the Gaurds happened. Or the clog in the toilet that is the RCMP lab finally ruptured the pipes.

You'll be wearing out lots of shoes that way waiting !
The gun's have to be built & shipped before you can have one .
Come back next year

Did somebody drink the Kool aid?

Well thats the first Ive ever heard of an FRT listing the Type81 as prohib. I thought we've been waiting 4 years for an FRT period?? Correct me if Im wrong.

This is exactly what I was getting at in post 121. And hey, I hope we are both wrong too!

We have been. 4 rifles were imported into the US and examined by the ATF decades ago. They arrived just before the import ban on Chinese guns went up in the US and only 4 guns are stateside. I assume the rcmp had limited info that the gun existed and entered it onto the frt with what they knew. At the time it was very little. They had it listed as prohibited as an ak variant.

I mentioned this originally in the Tactual Imports forum and at their request removed my posts as to not affect their chances. You can see where I changed them to "post removed" in their thread.

Now that the rcmp have actually examined a gun, other than just look at what limited info was available years ago, it appears they have corrected the previous decision.

The old frt entry can't be found on a search any longer. It was a different frt number. Now only this new frt entry exists. And they clearly state it is not an AK variant.

Well regardless what history you have stated, kudos to the rcmp for making the right decision.
