Type 81 is approved!!!!!

Lol... Norinco makes some fantastic and durable guns. Oh and they go for 10-20x the price in the USA because of the import ban. I have friends in the USA who say "wow it's a super rare top of the line norinco!" And they are serious.

That is a good point. Check out how much an unrefurb'd SKS goes for in the USA. I saw one sell for $1,200 US last year at an online auction. I saw a TT-33 in rough shape and with those terrible aftermarket safeties selling for $500 US too.

Norinco doesn't make anything. They sell guns built by one of any number of different arsenals all across China. Hence why quality can be great, or there can be issues.

Norinco and Polytech are distributors, not manufacturers.

But your point is valid. Chinese ak are top of the line guns on the US market. And Chinese sks are sought after. This gun would be huge news in the US, and I guarantee the US bloggers will be moaning about how we get them and they don't. There will be jealousy.

This is true. Guns are made by many companies including state arsenals and then sold and marketed by norinco. My point is that the Chinese generely make very durable guns, and they are a lot more in the USA.

This is kinda what I have been thinking. Get everyone to buy all these cool new guns/shotguns, then reclassify them to restricted/prohibited to add insult to injury to the firearms community!! Call me paranoid, but all this stuff being allowed in and the Akdal 1919 being reclassified to non-restricted is so strange for the RCMP and this current government that it seems like a trap!

Ian

I don't buy that for one second.
In fact, I encourage everyone to buy firearms, especially dreaded "black rifles". There are approx. 2 million Canadians with firearms licenses, with about 1 million restricted firearms registered. Imagine if those numbers were 5 million and 2.5 million instead. As for non-res guns...we all know there are millions out there. Some estimates are there are more than 10 million firearms in this country held by licensees. That's a big block of voters...people with all sorts of political leanings...that you are going to anger and alienate.

Furthermore, it helps that we can point to a crime rate, especially a violent crime rate, that has dropped for the last 8 yrs (presumably 9 yrs as the downward trend almost certainly continued in 2015) DESPITE there being more firearms and more firearms license holders in this nation over most of that time frame, AND the scrapping of the non-restricted registry.

Buy, buy, buy.
Strength in numbers.

No doubt about that. But when can we have AKs?

Whatever floats your boat... I wouldn't own any of that Chinese crap if it was given to me. Had few several years ago. Fit and finish is crap. Shot okay but they fell apart. I guess they are okay to people that don't know any better... lmao Also never heard of any Americans upset they couldn't have a Norinco especially when the can buy an actual AK not a Chinese rip off. You keep your Norinco's I will keep my Springfield's, Knights and other quality firearms...

Whatever floats your boat. I like those too. I just don't limit myself.

What type of gun nut would turn down a free gun? That is just weird.
